Question of the week!

How can I avoid hypocrisy and embrace the spirit of God’s commands? Am I merely ful-filling my Sunday obligation or am I a “doer of the word,” putting God’s word into action?

Pastor’s Corner

My Dear Parishioners, I hope that you and your families

are well! Just as a reminder, the parish offices will be closed in observance of Labor Day, Monday, September 3rd. Our offices will reopen on Tuesday, September 4th. As customary on civil holidays, we will have only one Mass that morning at 9 AM. On behalf of myself, the priests, deacon and staff of Our La-dy of the Assumption, we wish all of you a very Happy Labor Day!

I call your attention to an Archdiocesan Prayer Vigil of Reparation and Petition that will take place at the Cathedral Basilica of SS Peter and Paul on Friday, September 14th. It will take place from 5 PM until midnight with prayers before the Blessed Sacrament. All are invited to attend this important event especially in light of the current crisis that we face in the Church. You can find more information below in the parish bulletin as well as a website link concern-ing other pertinent details.

We welcome back all of our students, both old and new, this week to Assumption Academy. I invite you to stop by and take a look at our newly renovated playground. It’s really beautiful and will be even safer for our young children. I ask you to please keep the principal and staff in your prayers as we begin another academic year. Thank you again for your love & support of our parish. Until next week!

Love and prayers, Fr. Carey

AoP Prayer Vigil of

Reparation & Petition

Friday, Sept. 14, 2018

All Catholics of the greater Phila. area are invited to an evening of prayer before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament to ask for His mercy upon His Church in this moment of profound crisis. We come to make reparation for our own sins & those of our bishops & priests. We come also in confident hope that from Christ’s superabound-ing mercy will come the purification, healing & restoration of holiness for which we long. Friday, Sept. 14, 2018 from 5 PM - Midnight at the Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter & Paul, Phila. The doors of the Cathedral will be open to all who wish to come and pray during this vigil. More info available at: archphila.org/vigil.
