Today’s Scripture Lesson: “The Dance of Marriage”

Ephesians 5 (Selected Texts)

Pastor John Ferguson

Songs For Communion “In Christ Alone”

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This cornerstone, this solid ground

Firm through the fiercest Drought and storm

What heights of love What depths of peace When fears are stilled When strivings cease

My comforter, my All in all Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless babe

This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save

‘Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid

Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious day Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me

For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death This is the power of Christ in me

From life’s first cry, to final breath Jesus commands my destiny

No power of hell, no scheme of man Can ever pluck me from His hand ‘Til he returns or calls me home

Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand

“Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)”

Amazing grace How sweet the sound

That saved a wretch like me I once was lost, but now I'm found

Was blind, but now I see

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear And grace my fears relieved

How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed

chorus

My chains are goneI've been set free

My God, my Savior has ransomed meAnd like a flood His mercy reigns

Unending love, amazing grace

The Lord has promised good to me His word my hope secures

He will my shield and portion be As long as life endures

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow

The sun forbear to shine But God, Who called me here below

Will be forever mine Will be forever mine You are forever mine

Our Confession Of Faith

~ Philippians 2:5-11 ~

Leader: Let us confess our faith together…

Unison: We believe in our hearts and confess with our lips that Christ Jesus, “being in very nature God did not consider equality with God something to be grasped but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

“And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross!

“Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Amen.”

The Benediction

~ Hebrews 13:20-21 ~

Leader: “Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever.”

Unison: Amen!

Happy 5th Anniversary New City Church! That’s right. Five years ago, New City Church launched it’s first worship service. We are so thankful for this community of faith, and we’re so thankful for every person who has contributed to getting us where we are today!

Potluck Luncheon: Today Immediately After the Service Please stay for lunch as we celebrate our 5th Anniversary! We will hear a few testimonies, as well as learn more about the community groups starting up this fall. And as always, it’s a great opportunity to make friends and deepen existing friendships!

New City Centre for Urban Discipleship & Mission: Tonight 6pm Our next instalment of this ministry training course takes place tonight at 6pm. For more info, go to: http://www.newcitychurch.ca/#/community/ministry-training-centre.

Ministry Opportunity: Kid’s Sunday School We will be kicking off our Sunday School program at the end of the month. We are offering 2 classes from kindergarten to Gr.6 for 30-40 minutes after church. We are looking for a teacher and a few helpers for the Grade 3-6 class. Teachers must be members of NCC. If anyone (including the youth!!) is interested to help, please email Lana Bottomley at [email protected]. Teachers and helpers alternate months, therefore it is a commitment of 3 of 4 Sundays every other month!

Community Groups are starting soon… The Gospel brings us into relationship with God, but it also brings us into relation-ship with one another as well. Together we apprentice in a new way of being human as we learn from Jesus and follow him on mission.

At New City Church, we value community, and one of the primary ways we do this is through our community groups. Learn more about our community groups today at our potluck luncheon, or visit our website and click on the community tab.

Servant Team Schedules These will be sent out via email weekly, so be sure that you are receiving our emails. You can sign up at on our website or email [email protected].

To all who are spiritually weary and seek rest, to all who mourn and long for comfort, to all who struggle and desire victory,

to all who sin and need a Saviour, to all who are strangers and want fellowship,

to all who are broken and long for healing, to all who hunger and thirst for righteousness,

and to whosoever would come, New City Church opens wide her doors

and offers welcome in the Name of Jesus Christ.
