10 Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom! Listen to the instruction of our God,

you people of Gomorrah!

11 “What are all your sacrifices to me?” asks the Lord. “I have had enough of burnt offerings

and rams and the fat of well-fed cattle; I have no desire for the blood of bulls, lambs,

or male goats.

12 When you come to appear before me, who requires this from you— this trampling

of my courts?

13 Stop bringing useless offerings. Your incense is detestable to me. New Moons and Sabbaths,

and the calling of solemn assemblies — I cannot stand iniquity with a festival.

14 I hate your New Moons and prescribed festivals. They have become a burden to me;

I am tired of putting up with them.

15 When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will refuse to look at you; even if you offer

countless prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are covered with blood.

16 “Wash yourselves. Cleanse yourselves. Remove your evil deeds from my sight.

Stop doing evil.

17 Learn to do what is good. Pursue justice. Correct the oppressor. Defend the rights

of the fatherless. Plead the widow’s cause.

18 “Come, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are scarlet, they will be as white

as snow; though they are

crimson red, they will be

like wool.

19 If you are willing and

obedient, you will eat the

good things of the land.

20 But if you refuse and rebel,

you will be devoured by the

sword.” For the mouth of

the Lord has spoken.

God’s Word - Devoted to Him

Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. (John 20:29)

How important it is for God to keep us focused on things that are unseen, for we are so easily snared by the things

we can see! If Peter was ever going to walk on the water, he had to walk, but if he was going to swim to Jesus, he

had to swim. He could not do both. If a bird is going to fly, it must stay away from fences and trees, trusting

the buoyancy of its wings. And if it tries to stay within easy reach of the ground, it will never fly very well.

God had to bring Abraham to the end of his own strength and let him see that with his own body he could do nothing.

He had to consider his own body “as good as dead” (Heb. 11:12) and then trust God to do all the work. When he

looked away from himself and trusted only God, he became “fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had

promised” (Rom. 4:21).

This is what God is teaching us, and He has

to keep results that are encouraging away

from us until we learn to trust Him without

them. Then He loves to make His Word as

real to us in actuality as it is in our faith.

From Streams in the Desert

Trust is the bridge over the raging river. Trust is how we access God’s way for us.

Trust is acting on your belief that God will make a way. You will never benefit

from your faith in God until you step on the bridge and start walking across.

Trust is both an attitude and an action.

Robbery Without a Weapon “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse.” Malachi 3:10

Note the proportion in God’s appointed program for us. “Bring ye all the TITHES into the storehouse.” 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 says, “Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches in Galatia, so you must do also: On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.” Note the words, “as God has prospered him.” This signifies a definite proportion of income. It does not say, “Let everyone lay in store as he feels led.” Nor does it say, “Let everyone lay in store as he feels moved by the Holy Spirit.” Friend, the Holy Spirt will never lead us to do anything contrary to the Word of God. And the Word of God teaches us that the tenth is the Lord’s. The Bible says, “Let everyone lay by him in store as God has prospered him.” That is, in a proportionate way, according to a percentage basis. This makes giving equal. The millionaire and less wealthy person are equal in their giving in relationship “as God has prospered.” Thus, we see that the proportion of our giving is the tithe. Next, the text reveals to us the place of our tithes. “Bring ye all the tithes into the STOREHOUSE.” Where is the storehouse? Again, 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 says we are to “lay in store.” This clearly points us back to Malachi 3:10 which says for us to “Bring all the tithes into the ….” what? Into the storehouse! Also note that we are to do this upon the first day of the week.” What happens on the first day of the week? Obviously, the local New Testament church is at worship. And the truth of the Scripture is that the local church is the storehouse! In the New Testament, over ninety percent of the time the word church is mentioned, it refers to that local, first-day worshipping body of baptized believers. It is not our privilege to scatter our tithe around to all sorts of parachurch or evangelism organizations, youth groups, etc. They are to receive offerings, not tithes! The tithe is to be brought to the local New Testament church, the storehouse, on the first day of the week. From Money Talks by O.S. Hawkins
