PPerhaps it’s the economy, the recyclingtrend, or the growing popularity of shows likePawn Stars and American Pickers – butconsignment and estate sale shopping is morepopular than ever these days!
Most people think that estate sales are heldonly following a death, but this is not alwaystrue. StillGoode Consignments & Estate Saleshas seen a tremendous increase in requests forconsignments and estate sales on behalf ofseniors moving into assisted living facilities, families moving cross-country or simplydownsizing to smaller homes. Whatever thereason, the purpose of an estate sale is to sellmost or all of the home's contents, which caninclude everything from high-end furnitureand designer clothing to cleaning supplies.
Think you couldn’t possibly findsomething of interest in an estate sale?Consider that over the last year, StillGoode hashosted estate sales for a former WWII fighterpilot, two judges, a chef, several doctors, prominent attorneys, artists and internationalexecutives. Each sale offers something uniqueto be found! Since the goal of the sale is to clearout the contents of the home, each roomtypically contains merchandise on display, which means sale items are included in everyroom in the house – from the kitchen to thebedroom to the garage. Hot ticket items includefurniture, rugs, vintage jewelry, tools andbooks. Many estate sale shoppers are lookingfor unusual items that may no longer beproduced.
StillGoode holds estate sales on Thursday,Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.Unlike traditional estate sale companies,StillGoode utilizes inventory systems and barcoded pricing labels to speed up the check outprocess for customers. On the first day of the
sale, it is not uncommon to have 40-50 peoplewaiting to enter the home before the sale starts. Those people know that it’s best to arrive earlyto get first choice. Rather than haggling overprices, StillGoode prices items fairly and offersa set reduction schedule that regular customersare well familiar with. No discounts are offeredon the first day of the sale, but prices arereduced 25% on the second day and most itemsleft on the third day are reduced 50%. Sure, thebest bargains are to be had on the third day, butbe prepared that the item you had your eye onmay have already been sold!
Can’t make it to an estate sale? StillGoodehas a beautiful 6,600 square foot consignmentshowroom that is open every day of the week!Since some neighborhoods do not permit in-home estate sales, it is not uncommon forStillGoode to accept an entire house full ofhome décor and furniture on consignment.Inventory in the consignment showroomchanges daily and includes an eclectic mix ofestate items, beautiful antiques, new items frominterior decorators, floor models from localdesigner furniture stores and model homefurniture. StillGoode also carries art, mirrors, rugs, china and unique one-of-a-kindcollectibles from all over the world.
Looking for a particular china pattern orstyle of furniture? StillGoode maintains a “wishlist” and is happy to call or email customers tolet them know when an item they are lookingfor has been consigned. StillGoode offers localdelivery as well as nationwide shippingservices.
StillGoode has been family owned andoperated since 2005. The owners, Dennis andJanna Sewell, are certified personal propertyappraisers and Dennis is a licensed Texasauctioneer. The StillGoode consignmentshowroom is located at 5200 Louetta, Suite 138in the North Houston / Spring area and is openMonday-Thursday 10-6, Friday-Saturday 10-5and Sunday 1-5. More information is availableat www.StillGoode.com.
Shopping Consignment & Estate Sales… it may be gently used, but it’s StillGoode!

We got the phone call, late on a Thursdayafternoon. The TV show, Extreme Makeover-Home Edition, was looking for vintage storesin Houston to supply the cast with a retrowardrobe. This was the first show beingfilmed for the new season--in Houston! WeJUMPED at the chance to work with a popular, nationwide television show. This would be ahuge boost for our shop, Replay on 19th Street, and also the beginning of wonderful whirlwind experience...Immediately, my partner, Mike Hildebrand, and I started pulling from our merchandiseevery outrageous outfit we could find fromthe '60’s & '70’s. We supplied the 5 castmembers with 4 outfits to choose from and
included accessories aswell. We thought ourjob was done... Within afew days, we werecontacted again. Thistime, we were asked todonate numerous “heroprops” (home decoritems) for decorating the newly constructedhome. Vintage hats, fashion reference booksfrom the '60’s and several brooches were justsome of the selections picked to help make thehouse complete. The family of 7 (Mom, Dadand 5 precious girls) are all big fans of vintagefashion. A model’s runway was evenconstructed in the new house! When welearned of their genuine enthusiasm forvintage, Replay on 19th Street also donated agift certificate for the girls to go shopping forthe upcoming school year. Working with thistelevision show was an incredibly rewardingand exciting experience. We were honored tobe selected and truly hope that the family isenjoying their new digs!
