Senior Staff Accountant
The Senior Accountant is a high impact position that supports the Company’s largest business unit as well as the shared administrative and corporate functions. Highly visible, this individual will interact on a regular basis with Senior Management in finance and operations. From a long-term perspective, this position will ultimately align either with the local business unit or corporate as additional resources are added to the department. In the short-term, there will be significant exposure in both areas. To be successful in this role you will be a high-energy, driven individual who is capable of grasping complex and varied responsibilities on an accelerated basis without the need for extensive hands on training. Primary Responsibilities: Support the local Business Unit (50%)
General ledger maintenance including journal entries and related account reconciliations
Key contributor to the month-end close process including reconciliation of primary sub-ledgers
Assist with preparation of the financial statements including statement of cash flows
Supervision of accounts payable and accounts receivable
Prepare the weekly disbursement package
Contribute to the preparation of monthly financial reporting package
Identify and investigate manufacturing variances, participate in cost accounting activities
Assist with the monthly forecast and annual budget processes
Ad-hoc analysis and preparation or various reports as directed Support the Shared Administrative and Corporate Group (50%) Ownership of the general ledger and supporting schedules
Responsible for preparing the related financial statements
Prepare intercompany entries and oversee related activity for the consolidated company
Assist with Treasury Management activities and weekly cash forecasting
Prepare bank reconciliations for all accounts in the consolidated company
Prepare supporting schedules for the external financial statement audit and income tax return
Assist with schedules and applications related to the Company’s general liability insurance program
Contribute in the preparation of board presentations and other board communications
Fixed asset accounting for the consolidated company
Liaison with private equity parent on finance and administrative topics Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university
2+ years of progressive experience in a corporate accounting department
Requirements:
Prior experience in a manufacturing environment (or manufacturing clients if from public) a plus
Month-end close and general ledger skills
Experience utilizing ERP systems
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members
Will consider candidates straight from public accounting with emphasis in for-profit audit Preferred:
CPA or CMA or planning to sit for the exam preferred
