It is now December, and Sendera is now using GoodwinManagementtooverseetheday-to-daybusinessofthecommunity.AsImentionedlastmonth,weswitchedtoGoodwinsothatSenderawouldgetincreasedsupportandabetterreturnonourinvestment. We were told that Goodwin is adept at keeping the community’s funds in interestbearingaccountsuntilneeded, therebymaking the fundsgoevenfurtherinmaintainingtheneighborhood.Thisalongwiththesavingsinmanagementfeesallowsustokeepassessmentsatthecurrentratefor2009.Howeverwearenotabletoofferadiscounttothosewhopay their assessments in advance for 2009. We will reevaluate for 2010,andifpossiblereinstatethediscount. Last month you should have received a letter that providedinformationonwhere tosendpayments,andwho tocontactwithissues. 4th Annual Sendera Chili Cook-Off and Fair November 2nd, the Sendera Recreation Committee hosted thefourthannualSenderaChiliCook-OffandFair in theparking lotby the pool. Local firefighters and Officer Josh served as official judgesofthecontestalongwithafewresidents.Therewassomegreattastingchili,lotsofvendors,music,andajumphouseforthekids.Itwasn’taneasytaskdecidingonthetopthreechiliestowinthecovetedtrophiesandcashprizesinbothredandgreencategories,butthewinnersare:

Of special interest was her Monarch Butterfly Nursery with several very fat and happyMonarchcaterpillarsandapupaattachedtoatableontheporch.Sheriexplainedtherequirementsfor getting certified and provided lists of the plants she hasusedtocreatethisenvironment. SondraAllistonprovidedbagsofCrocosmia,anirisshehashadgoodluckpropagatinginoursoil.PamKurburski shared Mexican Feather Grass seedlings,andSherisenthomepotsofFrogFruitformemberstotry.Therewereseveraldiscussionsaboutwhatplantsandtechniqueswerebesttouseinourareaandhowtodealwithunwantedcrittersinthebackyard.
