Based on the novel, ‘The Curse’ written by Lee Su Ann, the main character, Azreen saleh was the one who portrayed as ‘one has to struggle to improve one’s life’. She had struggled in a few different incidents and made her became a better person.

First and foremost, Azreen had struggled in knowing the unexpected truth of her sister’s death. Her sister, Madhuri was died and her body was found by an Indian boy. There were rumours spread by the rumour monger, Puan Normala that her death was not an accident but murdered! Besides, her blood was white in colour! She wanted to know the truth of her sister’s death. So, she asked Puan Fatihah, the Old Lady and Mohd Asraf. However, they all did not tell her the truth. Then, Madhuri’s biological mother who was called as Pontianak lady by the villagers gave her hints that her father, Saleh Abdullah was the murderer. She was angry with her father and decided to leave. Unexpectedly, her father died due to heart attack after she left. Azreen’s struggles had improved her life as she became braver and stronger. She accepted the unexpected truth and forgave her father.
