Attend unit meetings and set a goal with your Independent Sales Director. Break it into bite-sized pieces; celebrate each milestone! Find a power partner. You and your sister Independent Beauty Consultant (or whomever you choose) hold each other accountable and recognize your accomplishments. Create a goal poster. Feature your reason to work and a list of planned accomplishments. You may want to create mini reminders to tuck in a drawer or tape to the fridge.
Brush up on technology. Start a Facebook page and get your own Mary Kay® Personal Web Site. Both are instant ways to reach your circle of influence. Organize your customer information in MyCustomersSM. Identify ways to increase existing income-producing activities. If you typically spend an hour a week on customer follow-ups, make it two hours. If you hold two skin care parties a month, shoot for four!
It’s July 1, and the clock is reset! The great thing about the Mary Kay opportunity is that it doesn’t matter where you landed on the scoreboard last year because each year is a new opportunity to earn and grow. What are your goals? Working Smart 60/40: Reinvesting makes “cents.”
Mary Kay Ash taught the 60/40 money management method: 60 percent of your weekly earnings (Pink account) can be reinvested into your business to purchase product inventory for your reorder business, limited-edition items, sales tools as needed, and to replenish or build your inventory. The remaining 40 percent (Green account) is profit, less expenses. When you reinvest a portion of your earnings in your Mary Kay business, you have more products on hand to serve your customers.
The goal is to keep as much of your Green account as possible; however, you may have additional expenses you want to pay for from this account before you take a profit (examples: hostess gifts, office supplies, special event registration and travel). What happens if your Green account needs change? The great news is that you’re in control. Maybe you’ll want to re-evaluate what you need to achieve in retail product sales every week to meet that change. Keep track daily because what you track and what you measure typically gets done! You also can adjust expenses to make sure you’re spending wisely.

Teacher Outreach Tips: You’ll want to keep in mind that teachers (or anyone) experiencing layoffs may be filled with mixed emotions, so you may want to be “extra” sensitive in your approach. Here are a few suggestions to follow when reaching out to this group of potential team members: Think about all the teachers you know in your social circles, i.e. neighborhood, church, friends, networking groups, etc. Why not share this incredible opportunity with them? Consider hosting your own Teacher Appreciation pampering party. All teachers deserve to be pampered at the end of the school year, and many look for ways to supplement their incomes during the summer months. Others may be looking for new alternative professional opportunities. Summer breaks have started in many areas of the country. You may want to check for any local community events planned for summer workshops and camps. You could host a summer fun day for teachers and camp councilors, where they are treated to a fun Satin Hands® pampering or pedicure session and maybe other fun “goodies” that you’d like to include.
