Congrats! You have signed your Housing Contract,

which includes a Dining Plan that is good for use at

multiple Dining Services restaurants, markets, and

specialty locations across campus.

Our HDH Dining facilities operate like any restaurant or

market located outside of campus—decide to purchase

as much or as little as you need, and pay only for those

items. This “à la carte” style of service is designed to

provide flexibility, so that you’re not charged a flat rate

just to walk through the door.

Dining Plans are billed with your Housing Contract so that

costs may be distributed throughout the year based on

the housing payment plan you selected. The Dining Plan

is linked to your campus ID card, and your entire plan

balance is available upon move-in. When you purchase

items, the register will reflect your transaction and

remaining account balance. Dining dollars are

good throughout the year, into the summer, and

roll over into fall quarter of the following year;

however, dining dollars will not roll over for

those who terminate their Housing Contract

before the end of the academic year. Roll over

of dining dollars will happen regardless of

whether or not you will be living on campus

the following year.

Your Dining Plan is

preloaded on your

Campus ID Card

Below are examples of what a typical week could look like with your Dining Plans.

The Dining Plan you choose is entirely up to you, depending on your individual appetite or

how often you want to eat outside of the Dining facilities. In July, Residents will be able to

select their Dining Plan (more information about this process will be sent via email). Please

remember, none of our Plans are meant to support three full meals a day, seven days a week.

5

The Dining Plans are designed to provide flexibility,

with the understanding that you will occasionally

be eating off campus, going home for weekends,

or cooking in your room/apartment.

Dining dollars are accepted at all HDH locations;

they are not accepted at non-HDH vendors like

those located in the Price Center. Please see

fold out map for reference.

Additional Dining Dollars

Residents can add additional dining dollars to

their Dining Plan at any time by visiting the

online card office at hdh.ucsd.edu/dining/

pages/DiningDollars.html.

If you select the 3400 or 5100 plan, it will

come with a Triton Cash bonus! Triton Cash

is the University’s pre-paid spending account

that is linked directly to your campus ID card.

It’s convenient, fast, easy—and accepted at

60+ locations on and off campus! The account

will be activated for you prior to move-in so

you can use it for laundry.

Options for continuing students:

The 5100 Plan: A more comprehensive Dining

Plan if you’re going to be on campus all day,

most days, or have a big appetite! This plan

provides approximately 15 meals a week to

budget throughout the year, and comes with a

bonus $100 in Triton Cash! Recommended for

residents who plan to eat most of their meals

on campus in HDH Dining facilities.

The 3400 Plan: A flexible Dining Plan, meant

to cover approximately 10 meals a week for the

average student, and comes with a bonus $50

in Triton Cash! A good plan for residents who

find themselves going home some weekends,

or occasionally enjoying meals outside of our

HDH Dining facilities.

The 1700 Plan: This Dining Plan provides

approximately 5 meals a week. Recommended

for residents who go home often on the

weekends, regularly eat outside of the HDH

Dining locations, or enjoy preparing meals in

their apartment kitchens.

Each of our residential dining restaurants’ culinary

teams are led by an American Culinary Federation

Certified (ACF) Chef de Cuisine. The rigorous

certification process requires a great deal of

knowledge and skill as a food service professional.

This fall, HDH will launch Rooted in Flavor, an initiative inspired by Menus of Change,

a groundbreaking movement from The Culinary Institute of America and Harvard

T.H. Chan School of Public Health that promotes principles of healthy and sustainable

menus. By providing nutritious, delicious and environmentally sustainable food

options, HDH aims to show that small choices make a big difference!

that are available at Dining Services.

Whether it be pizza, burgers, burritos,
