1. THERMOSTART DEVICE

The thermostart which is efficient at ambienttemperatures of --18! C, comprises a heatingelement fitted in the intake manifold. When thethermostart is switched on it ignites fuel in themanifold, thus heating the air before it enters thecombustion chamber.

The thermostart is activated when the key is turnedanti-clockwise. It is actioned for 15 seconds.

TEST PROCEDURE

Voltage

Turn the ignition key to the thermostart position. 12Vbetween the BROWN / RED wire and EARTH (for 15seconds only).

5. ALTERNATOR

This sends a square wave signal, the frequency ofwhich varies between 142.5 and 855 Hz (480--3060rpm) to the microprocessor and to the instrumentpanel.

TEST PROCEDURE

With the engine running, the warning light should goout. If not, disconnect the wire connected to theterminal D+. When D+ is not connected and thewarning light goes out, there is a fault with thealternator. If it does not go out, then check the wiringloom for a short to earth between D+ cable and thewarning light.
