MaxCell

(888)644-60755 - 3

TVC’s product, MaxCell®, allows you to place the maximum number of cables in anytype of conduit network structure. By taking the shape of the cables placed within,MaxCell® allows you to utilize up to 80% of available duct space. Previously limited tothree cables in a four inch conduit, MaxCell® customers can now place up to ninecables in that same conduit!

MaxCell® works with every known type of cable including:• Fiber Optic• Telephone• Power Utility• Premise (riser & plenum)• Outside Plant• Underground

MaxCell® saves you valuable resources by allowing you to minimize the size of duct structures while maintainingcable density. In some cases, MaxCell® eliminates the need for new structures altogether by allowing you to utilizeexisting duct space. MaxCell® is available in standard, plenum, detectable versions and in a range of configurationsdesigned to meet various industry requirements and conduit sizes. Installation and termination accessories are alsoavailable. For more complete details, visit the MaxCell website at www.maxcellinnerduct.com.

MaxCell 2” 2 Cell

This product was designed for use in 1.5” and 2” ducts where two cables are being placed. Multi-pack applicationsshould not occur, therefore it is only offered in one color. As the 1.5” applications are typically “confined” in terms ofavailable space in the duct, pulling tensions can be higher than in the larger sized ducts, therefore therecommended and maximum pulling lengths are shorter than for the other products. The 2” 2 Cell has a moreconfined cell structure than the other MaxCell products. It can be used in larger ducts when the application allows, but should not be used for the longer pulls commonly associated with larger duct applications.

MaxCell 2” 3 Cell

This product was designed for use in 2” ducts where three medium sized cables are being placed. Multi-packapplications should not occur, therefore it is only offered in one color. Pulling tensions can be higher than in thelarger sized ducts, therefore the recommended and maximum pulling lengths are shorter than for the 3” or 4”products. The 2” 3 Cell has a more confined cell structure than the 3” or 4” MaxCell products. It can be used inlarger ducts when the application allows, but should not be used for the longer pulls commonly associated withlarger duct applications.

MaxCell 3” 3 Cell

This product was designed for use in 3” or larger ducts. It is considered the product for most 4” conduit structures.Multiple combinations of large, medium, and smaller cable sizes are applicable and anticipated. Multi-packapplications are not required, but anticipated, therefore up to six colors are available. As long as space in the ductis available, and the sweeps and/or 90 degree turns are nominal, pulling tensions should not be effected andshould be, in fact, far less than for placing conventional innerduct. As the number of 90-degree turns, or theaggregate cable OD, in an application increase, the pulling tensions nominally increase.

MaxCell 4” 3 Cell

This product was also designed for use in 3” or larger ducts. Multiple combinations of large and medium cablesizes are applicable and anticipated. Multi-pack applications are not required, but anticipated. Since larger cableapplications are anticipated, the number of cables and packs that can be placed is reduced, therefore a smallernumber of colors are available.

MaxCell 1.25” 1 Cell(Teardrop)

This product was designed for use in 1.25” Innerduct or larger ducts. It is designed to deploy an additional cable ina confined small conduit or innerduct. Multi-pack applications are not anticipated. Since smaller, confined conduitapplications are anticipated, pulling tensions commentary mirrors the 2” 2 Cell product.

MaxCell: Termination Access.

(888)644-60755 - 6

For non-100% water-tight applications, MaxCell should be terminated using an easily installed, cost-effectiveinflatable bag system. Inflation bags wrap around the already placed MaxCell and cables, and inflate to terminateconduit end. This system is very effective for inhibiting water, mud, debris or animal intrusion into a conduit. It can

also be easily removed and replaced if cable is added or removed at a later date.

For water-tight and/or up to 20 psi gas applications, MaxCell should be terminated using Split-Termination Plugsspecifically designed for MaxCell use in 4" and 6" OD conduits

FIBER-GLIDE™

(888)644-60755 - 9

Vikimatic FIBER-GLIDE™ Rope

FIBER-GLIDE™ Rope is the only one to specify for your next fiber optic cable installation...because it can save timeand money!

FIBER-GLIDE™ was designed for pulling fiber optic cables. Why? Because of its polyethylene outer jacket, whichgreatly reduces pulling friction as compared to standard polyester or polypropylene ropes.

And, the polyethylene jacket, just like the covering for fiber optic cables, is verydurable and can be used several times; or, it can be left in the conduit systemwithout deterioration. This makes FIBER-GLIDE™ the one and only rope youwill ever want to specify for pulling fiber optic cables.

FIBER-GLIDE™ Rope offers these exclusive advantages:Up to 47% less drag than other conventional ropes.Up to 40% less drag the Kevlar pull tapes.

Features• Low stretch...but, tough cable-pulling strength.• Slick, polyethylene diamond-braided jacket reduces friction build-up and eliminates inner duct scoring.• Extra lubricants are not required.• Speeds installation time. Reduces downtime and additional intermediate assist pull point.• Very good abrasion resistance.• Excellent for long and difficult pulls.• FIBER-GLIDE™ is re-usable!

* Average breaking strengths and elongations are based on new and used rope, tested under laboratory conditions.** Standard spool. Custom put-ups available. Additional breaking strengths available upon request.

Ordering Information1. Determine UL Requirements

Determine if a UL Listed enclosure is required for your installation. Federally funded electrical and telecom projects, as well asmany state and municipal projects, generally require the use of a UL Listed product whenever one is available.

Most QUAZITE® underground enclosures in sizes through 30" x 48" are UL Listed. These products are clearly marked with the ULlabel on both the enclosure and the cover. Special order enclosure with holes and mouseholes may also qualify for UL Listing aslong as the holes do not exceed 25% of the area of each sidewall

2. Determine Load RatingsTier designations are used in the underground enclosure industry to aid in specifying the performance of products. The Tier numberrelates to a nominal design load times 1,000 pounds (i.e.: Tier 8 = 8 x 1,000 lbs. = 8,000 lbs.)..

All Tier loadings will have a corresponding test load which is at least 50% greater than the design load. The maximum deflection atthe indicated design load shall be 1/2 inch for vertical tests and 1/4 inch per foot of length for lateral tests.

EnclosuresFor use as splice boxes, pull boxes or equipmentenclosures for any application requiring easy access toan underground service (i.e. electrical, water, telephone, gas, fiber optics, CATV, etc.). Available in alarge variety of sizesand styles with eitherstandard, heavy dutyor optionaloverlapping covers. No grounding isrequired for the boxor cover. Fits flushwith sidewalk orgrass area. Skidresistant covers. Replacement covers and meter lids, hardware, inserts and grade adjustable extensions areavailable options.

Box Pads and Traffic Signal BasesPrecast polymer concrete box padsand traffic signal bases eliminateforming and pouring and are light-weight, resulting in easy handling and alower installed cost. Excavation andinstallation of the entire unit can bedone in one day. Can be reused inother locations.

Electrical and Telephone PadsUsed under transformers and tele-phone cabinets to add stability, prevent corrosion of metal cabinets, provide a fire break, and protectcabinets from damage caused bymowing equipment. Available as asolid pad or as a Splitt-Pad® for easyretrofits.

Strap Wrench Coupler Installation Tool

The easiest and most convenient tool for installing 1" through 2" JACKMOON innerduct couplersand CEV adapters.

Note: These couplers are airtight on smoothwall SDR-type innerducts. For other innerduct types it isrecommended that teflon tape be wrapped three layers deep over duct ends before installing coupler to assurewater and airtightness.

Vikimatic “Double” E-Loc® Couplings

The “Double” E-Loc® Coupling was designed and developed to join both smooth and ribbed HDPE Innerduct, specifically for pneumatic methods of cable placement where air and water tight integrity of the system isimperative, and where the joint is unrestrained such as in a vault, manhole or handhole. The standard E-Loc®

Coupling is pressure tight to internal pressure above 200 psi when restrained or buried, but the “Double” E-Loc®

Coupling can maintain these pressures unrestrained. The “Double” E-Loc® Coupler is reusable.

Vikimatic Electrofusion

The Electrofusion System offers you an external slip connection fitting made frompolyethylene. That means a non-metallic, non-corrosive joint for longer connection life. With the Electrofusion System, you get a heat fused joint that is pressure tight. In fact, tests have shown these joints to have a stronger tensile strength than that of the pipeitself. The Electrofusion System requires a minimal working area and there is on lateralmovement of pipe required for joining.

I. PE to PE - Electrofusion has been used to join PE pipe for over 30 years. The jointstrength has been tested for three (3) different joint performances.

1. Tensile Strength of the fusion has been proved to be stronger than pipe yield strength.2. Pressure strength of the fusion has been proven to be stronger than the burst strength of the pipe. Joints have been

tested at340 lbs. pressure for over 38,000 hours.3. The bond strength of the fusion has been proven under crush test to be stronger than the pipe itself.

II. PE to PVC - This is a new concept for very specialized applications. The PE does not fuse to the PVC. The joint strength isachieved by the thermal expansion of both plastics at the interface when heated. Both the PE and PVC pipe have beenprepared by a serrated scraping tool creating grooves .015" deep. The PE of the coupling melts into the serrations of thePVC. The thermal expansion of both the PE and PVC creates a very tight compression.

1. Tensile strength has been tested on 2" SDR-11 PE3408 to 2" Schedule 40 PVC, resulting in the PE yielding at 3.842lbs. of tensile. Test on 2" Schedule 40 PE3408 to 2" DB-120 PVC resulted in the PE yielding at 2,900 lbs. of tensile.

2. Pressure strength has been tested successfully at 20 psi for 24 hours. This test was to ensure a water tight seal. This joint is not to be considered a pressure rated connection.

3. Bond strength between the PE and PVC, when sectioned, is non-existent. Upon viewing the sections, it is apparentthat the serrations in the PVC have created an anchor pattern. The PE from the coupling has molded into thisanchor pattern and appears to have a biting affect, but when impacted the two will separate.

Vikimatic: Markers

(888)644-60755 - 40

Vikimatic Tel-A-Marker™Zero-Maintenance, Pipeline-Tough Line Markers

Tel-A-Marker Main Functions1. Right Of Way Line Marker Tel-A-Marker pipeline/utility markers are used to indicate the location of a

buried pipeline, cable, conduit, etc. - to help construction crews avoid accidentally damaging them, towarn the general public that there is a buried pipeline or utility in the area, and to identify the owner.

2. Vents are used to vent the crossing casing to the atmosphere to help maintain conditions for optimumcathodic protection.

3. Test Stations are used to monitor the effectiveness of the cathodic protection program.

DurabilityTel-A-Markers are made of ultraviolet-stabilized High DensityPolyethylene (HDPE) to inhibit fading and warping from exposure to theelements. And unlike painted metal signs, they will not absorb water, peel, or rust.

Tel-A-Marker samples were tested by an independent testing laboratoryaccording to the procedures in Federal (Military) Test Standard 191A,Method 5804, “Accelerated Severe Weathering Test.”As a result of these tests, TVC offers a limited 10-year warranty on theTel-A-Marker product line.

Easy InstallationSimply bury the base of the support post in the ground. An anchor tube, perpendicular to the support post in the buried portion of the post, prevents twisting or removal without excavating the Tel-A-Marker.

High VisibilityTel-A-Markers fittings are available in vivid colors selected to stand out inany background environment. Its 3-1/2" O.D. tubular design is highly visible from any angle aswell as from the air. Optional fluorescent fittings increase visibility from any sight plane. Testmessages are hot-stamped for durability into the fittings, not screen printed or stenciled.

Virtually No MaintenanceBecause Tel-A-Marker require no maintenance, their purchase assures low cost over the life ofthe installation.

Non-Metallic ConstructionThe HDPE construction is nonconductive and will not spark when struck. This eliminates thepossibility of spark ignition, fire or explosion in hazardous combustible locations.

Wind ResistanceThe tubular configuration makes the Tel-A-Marker less susceptible to “wind whip” – a commonproblem with 2-dimensional metal signs and other flat markers which have a large “footprint” inthe wind.

CT4000 Locking Tool

Our new CT4000 Tool was designed to make locking our larger sizes of split conduit and split couplings easierthan ever. The tool helps pull the couplings and split pipe together when more strength is needed than can beexerted when using channel locks.

As can be seen, the tool wraps around the split coupling and easily pulls it tight using either a 3/4" wrench or a 1/2"drive socket.

The CT4000 is great for locking our split conduit and split couplings and will make repairs quicker and moreefficient.
