Second Sunday Reflections

Genesis 22:1-2, 9a, 10-13, 15-18 Can you recall a time when you felt God called you? What

was it about?

Can you imagine how Abraham felt when he realized that God was asking him to sacrifice his only son? Can you de-scribe it? Can you relate to it?

Romans 31b-34 “If God is for us, who can be against us?” What does this

line mean to you? Do you believe it? Why or why not? In what ways would our world or your life be different if we really lived this message? What prevents it?

Mark 9:-10 “This is my beloved Son, listen to him.” This is a tremen-

dous statement about the relationship between Jesus and God the Father. In what ways do you listen to Jesus? In what ways is listening to him difficult? Why?

Prayer to St. Michael

Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into Hell Satan and the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls. Amen. (Pope Leo XIII (1010-1903)

Profession of Faith

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, At the words that follow, up to and including

“and became man,” all bow. and by the holy spirit, was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,

he suffered death and was buried and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
