This week dinosaurs are invading the second grade! We will be reading a fictional story by Tomie dePaola called Little Grunt and the Big Egg and a nonfictional story, Mighty Dinosaurs. We will review the skills of questioning and cause and effect.Try practicing with multiple choice questions here.

Measuring in Math
We began measuring with nonstandard units
and are moving on to explore inches/feet/yards, and centimeters/meters. This is a lot of information! Please watch for homework and practice measuring at home.

Basic Math Fact Practice Use dominoes - turn over one at a time. Ask your child to tell you the corresponding number
sentence. For example, 5 + 3 = 8. If this
is too easy, try using 2 dominoes. 8 + 8 = 16 If you don’t have dominoes, try writing numbers on pieces of cardboard or paper. Put them in a bowl or bag. Ask your child to draw out 2 at a time and add them or subtract them.Uses knowledge of numbers and applies computation strategies.
