Second Circular We are very thankful to the invited speakers and scholars for their effort to bring this conference into realization. While fixing the dates of some papers and the final programme, we are sending the list of the registered papers and the draft programme of the Conference. We clarify that speakers will be able to send the application until the 7 September, while auditors until the 5 October.

Papers, reports and posters must keep to the presentation of discoveries of ‘anfore d’Empoli’ in the context of their excavation or recovery, paying particular attention to the presence of local production and to the chronological excursus. The reports can be submitted in Italian, English, German, French or Spanish. The participation in the conference is free. The papers will be set out in three sessions, according to the geographical area of the findings, that are Valdarno and Valdelsa, Etruria and Latium, the Mediterranean area, and they may sum up known data or present new and original ones. Those wishing to participate as speakers will have to complete the attached form A, which ca be downloaded from the web site www.convegnoanforaempoli.it, to be sent to [email protected] or to fax n° 0571-589605, specifying whether they prefer to present an oral paper or a poster; please, also specify on which days you will be able to participate. By the same date, abstracts must be sent by e-mail or fax to the same address. For oral sessions, we prefer a Power Point presentation, for posters a paper format not larger than 70x100. Reports and posters will be given the same space in the conference proceedings that will be published by October 2011, whose relevant contributions are expected to be submitted by 22 December 2010.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION The Conference venue, the refectory of the ex-monastery of S. Stefano degli Agostiniani, is situated in the historic centre of Empoli, within walking distance from the railway station. The railway station of Empoli is on the main lines Florence-Pisa and Florence-Siena, at 30-50 minutes from these centres and with a good link to them. Moreover, Pisa and Florence have got airports with national and international flights. Therefore, we advise to take public transports, as they are fast, practical and environment- friendly. For those travelling by car, Empoli is on the highway Florence-Pisa-.Livorno with three exits; we advise to get off the highway at ‘Empoli centro’. The highway Florence-Pisa-Livorno is linked to the motorway network.
