• To provide management, administrative and implementation needs as well as support, liaise and sustain the R&D activities of the university.

• To forge a new research paradigms moving toward the fostering of world class research work.

• To process, coordinate and manage all researchgrants received either through internal orexternal sources including grants received byindividual staff or schools/ centres/unitscollectively.

• The office also takes charge any issuesregarding financial matters, management andadministration of research funds as well as theprocessing of travel requests related to researchgrants.

• To facilitate the collective management and administration of R&D resources and facilities, including the acquisition, control, monitoring and maintenance of related facilities and resources.

• To support, document and monitor research activities to ensure that they comply with the rules and procedures imposed by the funding agencies, including the submission of progress and final reports

• To plan, undertake and sustain the specific promotion and marketing of R&D activities, products and intellectual property (including the organization of related forums) in order to further enhance the image of USM as a prominent research institution.
