    Descriptive Essay

The Vacation To Cabo San Lucas

It was towards the end of the summer and I just got off the phone with my grandparents.

We talked about how school was about to start and how well I had been playing football. They

were excited to come see me play for the Blue Jays. Before school started, my grandparents had

planned a vacation for my family and I to go to Cabo San Lucas.

When we got on the plane to go to Mexico, I could smell the stench of something rotten. I

started to look around and see if I could find whatever this rotten smell was coming from. It

smelled like rotten eggs. I look over to my left where my dad was sitting, and as I looked at him

with the disgusted look on my face, he began to break a small smirk. I then thought to myself

this is going to be a long flight and what did my dad have for lunch because he needs to stay

away from whatever he had eaten.

We finally arrived at the airport in Cabo San Lucas and I was ready to run off the plane.

We get to the place where the luggage comes in and wait for our bags to come around the cycle.

While we were waiting for our bags to come around the cycle, I grabbed a map to see where our

hotel was on the beach. We all got in a van that the hotel sent to pick us up from the airport. On

the way to the hotel, I looked to my right and saw a big sandy field with lots of kids playing

soccer and looked to my left and saw the city. As we drove through the city, I thought to myself,

We arent in Missouri anymore. There were palm trees and tons of people on scooters and

bikes. When we got to the hotel, we went inside, and it was beautiful. The inside had its own

like rainforest feel to it with a stream with fish and trees all over the place. We went up to our

rooms and one of my cousins ran toward to balcony like he was going to jump off of it, and just

as he is about to reach the balcony, he runs straight into the screen door like one of those

cartoons I have watched. I walk over to the balcony and see the two pools and the beach. I didnt

waste much time to put on my swim trunks and go down to the pool. My favorite part of the two

pools was the killer whale slide that you could go in and took you down to the second pool by

spitting you out of its mouth.

The next day we go to the beach and play in the waves like I had done in White Water in

Branson and swim out a ways and let the waves push me back to shore. There were a lot of

people walking up and down the beach trying to sell you cheap items like fake Oakley glasses

and silver jewelry. Later that day we rented a few jet skis and played out on the water and also

did some tubing on a big banana raft. I was hanging on to that banana raft so hard I thought I was

going to peal a layer back like a real banana.

The third day we had planned a deep sea fishing trip. We got on a medium size boat and

went out into the ocean and cast our poles off the side of the boat and wait. It wasnt long before

we had a tug on the line and it was a biggest fish I had ever caught; it was sparkled as it popped

itself out of the water. The fish was a tuna fish and about two feet long. I struggled bringing it in

and was kind of scared that it was going to pull me into the water; I finally got it in the boat and

was very happy. My dad hooked a blue marlin on his line about 30 minutes after I caught my

tuna fish. The blue marlin was so big it fought for a good 30 minutes and snapped the fishing

line. I was kind of mad I wanted to see them put the blue marlin on our boat and still have room

for us to stand. Everyone ended up catching a few tuna each, and we went back to the dock. At

the dock, there was a place that prepared and smoked the tuna for us. Normal tuna is great, but

smoked tuna is like a whole new universe on eating tuna.

Each night at the hotel there was a big buffet we would all go to and eat like kings. If I

could have one of these buffets in my house every night I would probably weight 500 pounds.

On the next day I went to the beach and played in the sand and forgot to put on sun screen and

got a little sunburned. After lunch, I went to a para-sailing place and signed up with a few of my

cousins. We got on this tiny speed boat with a platform on the back of it, where they would hook

you up to a para chute and when the boat gained enough speed you would fly up it the air way up

high and have a birds eye view of everything for miles. When it was my turn they took off and I

floated up in the air and was kind of scared. I dont get along with high, heights, and after I got

way up in the air I thought that it wasnt so bad and enjoyed they view. On the way down the

boat has to keep a little bit of speed or you will just float straight down. Well, on my way down

the guys driving the boat were slacking on the job and didnt pick up enough speed, and I was

floating down toward the water and noticed as I got closer to the water that there was a big black

circle under me. As I got even closer to the object, I notice that it was a giant sting ray, and thats

the last thing I wanted to land on. I started yelling at the guys in the boat and was kind of losing

my mind because I thought I was just a floating snack, floating down to the water for this giant

thing to eat. I got about 15feet from the water and the guys driving the boat finally got up enough

speed to make me stop floating down and eventually reeled me in. They unhooked me from the

para chute, and I said never again. I just about got killed by the giant sting ray licking his chops

and was floating down to him.

I decided to stay on land the next day after my near death instance, and we decided to

ride horses up and down the beach. When we got to the horse place, of course the guy there

doesnt speak English as all and it was like talking to a wall. I didnt understand anything he was

saying. So, we got on our horses, and my sister gets the magical horse that likes to be the leader

of the pack where it tries to stay in front of all the other horses. Well me being lucky and picking

the stubborn horse, well my horse was confused and thinks he needs to be the leader as well. My

sister sees that my horse has to be in front of hers and she starts making a game out of making

my horse getting behind her. After trips down the beach and back of tug-o-war with the horses

my horse decides he is hungry and just stops and tries to eat some grass. Well, I tell my horse its

not time to eat and yank up on the reins and my horse of course doesnt like this one bit and

starts to buck and try and throw me off of it. Meanwhile, I have the Mexican guy yelling Spanish

at me, and I have no clue what he is saying. We get back to the hotel and I tell everyone that Im

    never riding Mexican horses again.

Another day of fun was about to start, and we go to a place and rent four-wheelers. The

area that you actually get to play around on them is outside of the city in the sand dunes. So, we

make our way through the city and out to the desert with these huge sand dunes. These sand

dunes looked like mountains, and you could see nothing but orange sand. After playing around

on the lower parts on the sand dunes I get a great idea of going to the top of this one sand dune

and going top speed, and racing pass my dad and as I pass him I hit this big green grassy bump

and lose control of my four wheeler, and fly off the side of the sand dune. While just floating up

in the air, I look down and I can see the little tent where the medic and leaders that brought us

out to the sand dunes where stationed. I see one guy come out of the tent and start pointing at me

and yelling to all of the other guys. Meanwhile, I am still floating in the air and have been

floating for at least a good thirty seconds. When I hit the sand I cracked my chest and if it had

been anything other than sand I probably would have died. The next few days I chilled at the

pool and beach. When we went back home I told my grandparents thanks for taking us to Cabo

San Lucas and I will have a few good stories to tell my friends as school.
