Premier Visits Further design work is currently being carried out on the Inter-generational Space in our town centre. Planning to capture and retain the trees and natural falls into a concept that will be submitted for public comment will happen in the next few months is a priority of council before construction can commence. We were especially delighted in May to have a visit from our Premier that was orchestrated by our member for Murray Wellington, Mrs Robyn Clarke. It gave our Councillors and CEO a chance to explain our vision for this space and for him to reinforce the State Governments commitment toward the project. We also had the chance to update the Premier and our local member on a few other aspirations and issues we have and sincerely hope for more visits in the future. Ag Society Mural The Agricultural Society are embarking on another significant mural to brighten up our show grounds. Funding for this mural has been sourced by the generosity of our farming families in the district and each contributing family will have a sign placed on a memorial farm gate signifying the family name and property title with an associated chronology. Alcoa, Premium Allsands and the Ag Society have also contributed funding for the mural and we look forward to a very bright and special façade on the John Marchetti shed. Thank you Emergency Services Volunteers Council also held the annual Emergency Services Dinner in May to thank all our special emergency service volunteers who dedicate significant hours into keeping our community safe and providing support when we need it. The dinner had some special guests from the Waroona Hamel RSL who joined us for a delightful meal catered for by the Waroona Bowling club. Each organisation gave an update on the levels of demand they had encountered in the last twelve months and our town VFES even had to attend a call out during proceedings. A sincere thank you to all our Emergency Service vollies and their families that support the important work they do. Community Recycling Some figures that have come out from our communities take up of the Containers for Change refund scheme show we have embraced the concept very well. Community Recycling WA who are the approved applicant to pick up eligible containers from our Shire recently approached Council to seek a site for storage as they are having excess containers to deal with on collection days. This great initiative that supports our community and diverts waste from landfill has been successful in our patch and its great news that it can support some of our groups in fundraising.
