My Recent Work/Project History

In the last 6 years I have designed, delivered and or provided consultancy services for over 60 different organisations. Below is selection of highlights of my last 3 years, starting with current or most recent.

Morgan Stanley: I deliver 9 different training programmes for Morgan Stanley. This involves producing bite-sized learning solution in partnership with the organisation and then facilitating or outsourcing sessions to other associates to deliver. I also deliver their new manager development programme which assists newly appointed managers through their first 90 days of their role.

Moy Park: I am one of a team of 5 delivering a variety of management development programmes across their sites in Northern Ireland. I am also at present consulting with the HR team on the design of a new induction programme for the UK business. This has involved creating Pathway To Performance (PTP). This is a training approach that will provide structure to all training & development activity throughout an employee’s 13-week probationary period. It may also be used to provide structure when employees transfer roles or begin a process of multi-skilling. I have also created an articulation of their commercial strategy in a visual representation that is used to highlight business challenges and changes to their employee population.

TUV Rheinland (Risktec UK): I have been running for the last two years a programme I created called Inside, Outside, Forward. This provides participants with an opportunity to develop their interpersonal and intrapersonal approach. This programme stretches over 6 months and involves an individual diagnostic with myself to address learning needs. The bespoke sessions are created producing three interactive and thought provoking sessions. The process then concludes with a follow up learning transfer surgery which in turn provides a future learning pathway for each person in the form of courses, coaching, self led resources and many other tools that are made available specifically to meet their needs.

Cornerstone: I designed and currently deliver a number of core Management Development workshops in areas such as Presentation and Pitching Skills, Business Writing and Managing Meetings. I have also run more bespoke sessions on Creative Thinking to the fundraising teams, Team Building with Admin support and Train The Trainer sessions with the HR population. I am currently in discussion over an ILM Coaching solution to help embed a Coaching culture business wide.

SKY TV: I deliver a range of core curriculum workshops at sites in Edinburgh and London. These include Using Your Strengths, Time Management, Presentation Skills and many more. As a very dynamic organisation the delivery and design process requires to be very thought provoking as well as consistent with the SKY brand. My recent experience of this was designing a Project Management solution for the client where I created a business simulation to accompany the session where participant managed the launch of a drive in movie theatre.

Finning UK: I write and curate a monthly e-Newsletter for this client. This provides Finning leaders with a range of carefully selected practical tools to help explore and understand the different aspects of leadership and, more specifically, how we can live the company Values and use the their competency model every day to underpin everything they do. The blend of self development recommendations includes apps, websites, Twitter feeds, books, models and movies to allow readers to develop in many ways other ways rather than the more traditional approach to only going on courses.

Scottish Youth Hostel Association I have design and currently deliver a very bespoke Conflict Management workshop for this client. The design process involved visiting a staying in a number of hostels to experience and establish real life example of challenging customer conduct that staff find difficult to deal with. I visited hostels to deliver these sessions and assist learners in providing Conflict reducing strategies that work.

SEWS: I have written and currently deliver ILM Level 5 Leadership and Management Diploma to this globally based Japanese Manufacturer. This involves travelling between various countries to deliver each of these sessions. Each of these sessions is 3 days long and involves a very diverse audience and subject matter. This includes Leadership, Change and Communication. I also provide coaching support to learner as a core part of the programme.

Translink: Translink NI Railways had experienced significant business success in recent years and going forward recognised they had higher customer expectations and a need for continuous improvement. I designed and currently delivery a programme for Railway Supervisors. This included developing participants line managers coaching and mentoring skills. Providing a series of core development workshops. Concluding with the design and delivery of a development centre to aid the creation of a final PDP to carry them through the next 12-18 months of their careers.

Bank Of America (MBNA): I designed and delivered an engagement solution for MBNA as they were exiting card services operations in Europe within 2-3 years, therefore there was a lot of uncertainty. The solution I created was ‘Xplore’. This was a metaphor for the changes in the mind-set the client and I wanted to encourage. In simple terms meant the journey they were about to travel on would be more inviting that the destination itself. The three components of the strategy were engage, empower and enabling and used famous explorers a metaphor for becoming more adaptable. Designated “Lead Xplorers” attended six Xplore experiences to assist in cascading Xplore throughout the business in a social and high impact manner. They helped the whole business to navigate the Xplore experience and the associated changes.

“Life is a journey, not a destination”

Kerry Foods: I have designed and delivered negotiation and coaching solutions for Kerry in the past but recently I have been ghost writing a bite sized learning product for them. This involved creating a booklet that unfolds into a series of pockets guides on 6 different subjects. These include 1-2-1’s, Feedback, Development Planning and Career Planning. It provides lots of tools, tips and techniques that be easily digested over a very short time frame. I have also written session plan to accompany these so that they can be delivered as workshops. All of the products are used in the company learning academy and are a key part of their learning strategy. This programme is currently being rolled out to all Supervisors in the organisation.

Xchanging HR Services: I have worked across all levels of the business working most closely with the Senior team in developing and creating their Xcelllence programme. I designed and co hosted their management conference. This involved bringing their L’ship framework to life and building capability around the groups use of action learning and feedback to enable these to become cultural norms. I then wrote and delivered a series of Masterclass sessions which teams participated in subject to their needs from their PDP in the annual review process. I ran a second conference to focus on learning transfer and also to establish future needs. My work also involved one to one coaching with the senior team. Facilitating team events to assist their team working skills and develop their individual emotional intelligence and team effectiveness.

Warburtons: I have created a number of solutions for this client. A few highlights are detailed below. Talent Plant was a series of events aimed at making Performance Management more effective (to ensure people have the knowledge and ability to perform), strategic (to focus on broader issues and longer-term goals) and integrated (to link various aspects of the business, people management, and individuals and teams). The session used an interactive carousel workshop to parallel the process of the bakery process with that of the performance management cycle (shown in illustration). I also created a number of bite sized workshop and toolkits to complement the programme. I also deliver two core curriculum programme modular management development programmes for both Team Leaders and Managers.

Instep UK: I designed a series of bite sized Lunch and Learn packs. These cover ten separate core training and development topics that can be comfortably tackled over the lunchtime period in an easy to take away format. In essence Lunch & Learn is ready made training that just needs a facilitator to run the session, a tray of sandwiches and a minimum of ten hungry learners. I also design, deliver and consult on a variety of solutions for Instep clients.

“I’d give Lunch & Learn 10/10 – the quality and content is really good.

This material has hit the nail on the head. It’s

perfect for our requirements”
