Importance of Science Lab Safety
As fun and engaging as science experiments can be, we must always exercise caution when conducting them. In science, especially when conducting experiments, SAFETY is the number 1 priority.
Safety Rules
Here are some important safety rules to abide by when conducting experiments:
• Listen to the teacher at all times!
• Ask when you don’t know!
• Use proper protection!
• Don’t fool around!
• Use common sense!
• Report any accidents or problems to the teacher immediately!
Listen to the teacher at all times!
Listening to the teacher is very important for any class, but especially in science when we are conducting experiments. Listen for all directions given, so that you don’t miss important instructions or warnings!
Ask when you don’t know!
If you didn’t hear or couldn’t understand a certain direction, don’t be afraid to ask! Once you feel that you know and understand what you should be doing, you can proceed with the experiment.
Use proper protection!
In some cases, special protection may be needed to conduct an experiment. In such cases, be sure to use this protection correctly so that you don’t get hurt!
Don’t fool around!
As fun as experiments can be, it is important that you don’t fool around or do things that you shouldn’t do. It could compromise your safety and the safety of others.
Use common sense!
Common sense is also important when conducting experiments. If you know that you shouldn’t do something, don’t do it! This will prevent unnecessary accidents or injuries.
Report any accidents or problems to the teacher immediately!
As careful as you may be, accidents do happen. If there are any problems whatsoever, don’t hesitate to report them to the teacher so that he/she can handle them safely and properly.
Safety First
Science experiments are fun, and we want you to enjoy them—safely. Safety is, of course, our NUMBER 1 priority. If you follow these rules for science lab safety, as well as any other instructions your teacher gives you, we can make these experiments fun, while still retaining our motto of “Safety first!”
