TYPES OF DEGREES OFFERED AT IVY TECH COMMUNITY COLLEGE

At Ivy Tech, you can earn a variety of two-year degrees as well as one-year technical certificates. Before you enroll, check with your local campus to see what types of degrees or certificate programs are available in your area of study. An admissions counselor can help you choose an option that matches your career aspirations.

The ASSOCIATE OF APPLIED SCIENCE (AAS) DEGREE prepares students for a career.

The ASSOCIATE OF ARTS (AA) DEGREE prepares students to transfer to a four-year college or university. The curriculum is almost entirely made up of general education and liberal arts courses.

The ASSOCIATE OF FINE ARTS (AFA) DEGREE prepares students for transfer to a related program at a four-year school or a career in the fine arts.

Two kinds of ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE (AS) DEGREE programs are available: programs for technical/professional fields and for liberal arts. AS programs in technical and professional areas prepare students to start their career or to transfer to four-year institutions. AS liberal arts programs prepare students for transfer to four-year colleges or universities.

The CERTIFICATE can be completed in fewer credit hours than other types of academic programs. Certificate programs prepare students to sit for a certification exam in a short amount of time, and are offered in fields most likely to lead to employment or promotion.

The TECHNICAL CERTIFICATE (TC) is a one-year program that provides education in conceptual and technical skills for specific occupations.

Whether you’re looking for a better job, a promotion, or just an increase in salary, a degree from Ivy Tech

Community College of Indiana can help you get what you want. We offer the most affordable tuition in the state,

credits that transfer, campuses close to home, flexible schedules, and online classes, making Ivy Tech the perfect

choice for career-minded students. All of our programs are developed with input from employers in today’s

fastest-growing fields, giving you a relevant, career-focused education. Our goal is to help you make the most of

your time—and your future.

If you want a career where you can work with your hands—and your head—Ivy Tech’s School of Technology is a great

place to start. Employers in fields like automotive technology, construction technology, and electronics and computer

technology need qualified professionals with twenty-first century skills. With an associate degree or certificate from

Ivy Tech Community College, you’ll have the credentials to enter the job market to start a good-paying job right out of

college, or continue your education at a four-year institution. Contact us today to learn more about programs offered

in your area.

To learn more about employment and salary information for the careers described in this brochure, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics website at www.bls.gov and the Indiana Department of Workforce Development website at www.in.gov/dwd.
