Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends, Mother’s Day On Wednesday our school held its annual Mother’s Day Stall providing the children with an opportunity to buy little gifts for their mums. Such stalls are not able to happen unless we have a dedicated group of helpers to prepare the gifts and then to sell the gifts on the day. Can I please acknowledge the hard work of Trudy Whitfield who co-ordinates the Mother’s Day Stall and the following parents who assisted on the day: Vieanna Wilson, parent of Kiara, Tyrese and Hamionie Tanoa; Tram Le, parent of Vy and Quan Le; Nhi Dang, parent of Lien Tran and Kim Agius, parent of Max Cain. Also, very special thanks to Pam McDon-ald, a friend of Bonnie Rose Horne’s family for her generous donation of plants for the stall. Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers. Annual Report The school’s Annual Report will presented at the School Council on May 16th. It is a DET regulation that this is made available to parents. With that in mind, the school will post a copy of the 2016 Annual Report to its website: www.saeps.vic.edu.au. A printed copy will be made available to families on request at the school office. National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) tests 2017 Congratulations to all our Year 3 and Year 5 students who completed the NAPLAN as-sessment this week. Results will be available in September/October. Assessment & Reporting/ Student Led Conference Currently teachers are busy preparing the semester one reports for students. We will be holding ‘Reporting to Parents Day’ on Tuesday 27th June. Students will be required to attend a Student Led Conference with their parents. This structure is the first step in prompting student voice at SAEPS, where students will have the opportunity to engage in discussions that is reflective on their current learning and learning needs. SAEPS will be hosting a free BBQ throughout the Reporting to Parents’ day to encourage parents to engage and connect with other parents. Also during the day, students’ presentations will be on display in the gymnasium for students and parents to view. This presentation cele-brates the learning that students have achieved through their engagement with Clubs. Please place the 27th June in your diary as a reminder that it is Reporting to Parents Day. We encourage all families to attend to discuss their child/children’s progress. New Portable Works have commenced this week to install our new portable. We ask parents and students to show care and consideration to temporary fencing within the school. Dental Checks – Teeth on Wheels We understand that finding time to take your child to see the dentist can be very hard and time consuming, which is why we provide the service of having a dentist come to you. Your child will receive quality dental treatment from a highly trained and professional dental team, all of whom are police checked and Working with Children certified. Children requiring more exten-

sive dental treatment will be referred to the appropriate specialist for an additional appointment. Shade Grant The school has been successful in applying for The Victorian Governments School Shade Grants Program. This shade structure will be installed beginning Monday 15
th May and should only take 2 days to install. This structure
will give students another space that will provide shade from the sun. Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) With assistance from the Government, Medicare has introduced a Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) that provides children access to basic dental services from the ages of 2-17 years old. The entitlement is capped at $1,000 per child for every two calendar year period. To be eligible, you or the child must be claiming one of the following benefits: Family Tax Benefits-Part A, Parenting Payment, Abstudy, Youth Allowance, Carer’s Payment, Disability Support Pension, Special Benefits or Double Orphan Pension. Once your child’s forms have been returned to your school and received by us, we will individually check each child’s eligibility to see if treatment can be bulk billed through Medicare. If your child is not eligible for the CDBS funding, Teeth on Wheels can offer a special deal that is only available through your school for a check-up, clean and fluoride treatment (and x-rays if required) for only $100 (payment plans available), which can also be rebated through Private Health Funds depending on your cover.
