May we all strive to have a positive impact on the people around us, as well as on our beloved country. I would like to congratulate the matric class of 2018 on their exceptional results. We are very proud of their 100% pass, 98.7% university degree exemption and 438 distinctions. A special word of congratulations to Danica Meiring and Robyn Ferguson on their 10 distinctions each. More details about the results to follow in this circular. The king is dead … (the class of 2018 has moved on) … long live the king (the class of 2019 has already shown through their participation and spirit that they are worthy of filling the void). I hope the matrics will have a fun-filled and enjoyable last year at the College. A special word of welcome to all new staff members and learners. The wannabe grade eights are, however, still in the process of earning the right to be true Midstream College learners. I would like to invite the grade 8 parents to their inauguration in the hall next Thursday, 31 January at 18:30. I would furthermore like to invite grade 8 parents to your first opportunity to have Coffee-with-Carel. During this open agenda meeting with me, we get the chance to meet each other and chat about the dynamic College environment. It is scheduled in the staff room for Thursday, 7 February from 07:30 to 08:30. Please notify Debbi at [email protected] if you would like to attend. Grade 9 to 12 parents will have their opportunity on Thursday, 14 February. Carpe, carpe. Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.# My challenge to each learner, parent and teacher for 2019 – Carpe Diem (seize every academic, sport, cultural and social moment). Seize every opportunity to have a positive impact on your family, friends, College and country, and make 2019 an extraordinary year. # A quote from Mr Keating in the film Dead Poets Society.
