hand in hand.‟ With this
aim, a parent teacher orienta-tion was organized on
7th April 2015. Different as-
pects of personality, like Mul-
tiple Intelligence, CCE and Integrated Learning, were
discussed.
Knowledge Is Power Reading is indeed a healthy
recreation to loosen oneself in absorbing stories written by
master hands. A book fair was organized by the
„Scholastic India‟ to promote the reading habit among chil-
dren. A wide and wise selec-tion of books was available
‘The hand that rocks the
cradle rules the world‟ Mother‟s Day celebration was
held to enrich and enhance the young minds and help
them to acknowledge the importance of their mothers
and realize her value in their lives. Activities like special
assembly, poem recitation
competition and creative writ-ing were conducted.
Picturesque Collages
The tiny tots of the Pre-Primary Section fashioned
their favorite fruits and Veg-gies by gluing tit-bits of color-
ful papers to make chromatic collages. The students en-
joyed the activity thoroughly.
Clouds Come Floating Into
My Life
Our school celebrated Rabin-dra Jayanti on 8th May 2015
with great zeal and fervor. The day began with a special
assembly which involved splendid rendition of Tagore‟s
songs, dance and poem reci-tation. Students cherished the
vast contribution of the Nobel laureate in the field of litera-
ture, art and culture.
Burst of Freshness…..
It is time to rejuvenate and relax as our school organized
Summer Camp from 09 to 13 May 2015 in the school cam-
pus. The school was abuzz with vigor of sports activities,
the fine richness of art, the invigoration of training in
music and dance & the sensa-tions of culinary classics. The
camp instilled the belief that each individual is capable of
making a difference.
Radiant Rainbow Fans
With the hues of the Rainbow,
the students of Pre-Primary Section coloured small pieces
of paper and made Chinese fans. The tiny toddlers en-
joyed this fun-filled activity all through.

A Rhythm Of Joy

Rhyme competition was
held in the Pre – Primary
Section in which our enthu-
siastic teeny - weenies re-
cited some of the popular
rhymes in a rhythmic tune
with playful gestures .Their
performance filled the at-
mosphere with a jovial
spirit.
Independence Day Cele-
bration
DPS Asansol celebrated
69th Independence Day in
a mood of joy and happi-
ness. Everyone in the cam-
pus was geared up and
enthused for the momen-
tous occasion. The day was
marked with amalgamation
of cultural activities, drills
and patriotic songs by the
school choir which further
set the patriotic mood. The
school campus reverber-
ated with the revolutionary
slogans given out by the
students dressed up in the
guise of great freedom

Activity was organized in
the Pre- Primary Section in
which our exuberant young
minds indulged themselves
in making puppets with the
help of their teachers. The

ders in no time with their
conscientious minds and

the variety of puppets
made by them. Their art-
istry was whole- heartedly
appreciated by all.

these drills were to enable

bles, when like magic, the
three dimensional circles
appear in the air and float
in different directions. Our
tiny tots enjoyed a similar
game in the form of bubble
painting activity which
thrilled the little minds with

successfully enthused
through this activity.

TEACHER‟S DAY CELEBRA-
TION
The Dpsites organized a
myriad of well-knit activi-ties which were a tribute to
the preserving teaching fraternity for playing an
indispensable role in their lives. The immortal plati-
tude found its true essence in the mellifluous choral
recital, groovy dances and fun-filled interaction with
teachers. It was celebrated in a solemn and intense
way by screening the live telecast of the Prime Minis-
ters‟ Address.
HITCH YOUR WAGON
DPS Asansol was abuzz with multifarious activities
that made learning innova-tive and fun-filled. With the
aim to tap the potential of young minds, the bubbly
kids of DPS were exposed to a wide spectrum of ac-
tivities like tricycle race, guessing the bag and num-
ber game. The tiny tots actively participated and
thoroughly enjoyed the plethora of activities de-
signed to check their psy-cho-motor skills, power of
thinking and speed.
INTER-HOUSE EXTEMPORE
COMPETITION
“Public speaking is the art
of diluting a two minute
idea with a two hour vo-cabulary" and it takes a lot
more when it comes to ex-tempore. As truly called “A
speaker's nightmare”, an extempore is a brain bog-
gling situation to put your thoughts and present it in a
crisp manner. To imbibe a true spirit of learning and
competition, an Inter-
House Extempore Com-petition was organized.
The participants deliv-
ered their speech with
great confidence and enthusiasm.
MUSIC ENHANCES THE
JOY OF LIFE
The air was charged and
electrified as the school reverberated with the
cheering and clapping of excited students who had
gathered to witness the much awaited music
competition. All the groups sang nice melodi-
ous numbers. Students‟ hard work, dedication
and talent were evident in all the performances.
Music gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to

CALLIGRAPHY ACTIVITY
Handwriting is the mirror to
the personality of a person. A neat and beautiful writing
always seeks the attention of others and reflects
writer‟s good personality and control on motor
nerves. To develop awareness and love for
good handwriting , a callig-raphy competition was con-
ducted amongst the stu-dents of Pre- Primary Sec-
tion .The students scrolled their pencils into beautiful
round letters.
STORY TELLING ACTIVITY
The potential possibilities in any child are the most in-
triguing and stimulating in
all creation. The tiny tots of
Pre-Primary Section show-cased their creative apti-
tude by letting their imagi-
nation run riot through a
story – te ll ing act iv-ity .These young story tell-
ers used a variety of props to make their stories inter-
esting and expressive.
MAHALAYA CELEBRATION
The Mahalaya celebration enlightened the little minds
with the significance of Durga Puja that it epito-
mizes the victory of good over evil. Students pre-
sented a fabulous dance performance, ushering God-
dess Durga to descend on Earth, which enthralled the
audience. School choir sang songs that cherished our
rich culture and created a
spiritual aura.
JEWELLERY MAKING AC-
TIVITY
A jewellery making activity
was conducted in the Pre- Primary Section in which
the little ones made exqui-site pieces of jewellery with
beads and showcased their
innate talent and skill.

COTTON ACTIVITY
Not a breath of air stirred
over the free and open
prairie; the clouds were like
light piles of cotton;
The best out of cotton ac-
tivity was executed on craft paper with water color and
cotton roll leaving an im-pression of their art work.
The tiny tots enjoyed this amazing activity which
helped them in exercising co-ordination of brain and
muscles.
RANGOLI
The zeal for tradition and culture could be felt when
our students exhibited their flair in the art by making
beautiful patterns of Ran-goli and designs using geo-
metric shapes, deity‟s im-
pressions and floral motifs.
CHILDREN‟S DAY CELE-
BRATION
This year as well the occa-sion was celebrated with
éclat and fervour. Various activities were conducted
by the teachers to entertain the students. To add to the
splendour of the day teach-ers sang, acted and danced
to entertain the children. Children‟s joy and happi-
ness knew no bounds as they witnessed their teach-
ers in action on the stage.
DIWALI CELEBRATION
With gleams of diyas and
echos of chants, a sparkling Diwali celebration started
with a special assembly where the children were
enlightened with the signifi-cance of Diwali. To imbibe
creativity amongst the stu-
dents, several activities were conducted in which children
made beautiful rangolis and lighted earthen lamps and
decorated diyas with glitters .
ZEPHYR OF IMAGINATION
Delhi Public School, Asansol celebrated its 3rd Annual Day
titled ‘Reverie’ – An Imagi-nation of Young Ignited
Minds’ on 11thDecember 2015 amidst great zest, vibrance and
elation. The Chief Guest on the occasion was His Holiness
Swami Somatmanand Ji Maha-raj, Secretary, Ramkrishna
Mission Ashram, Asansol. The occasion was graced by
the benign presence of Shri Ramesh Prasad Goenka , Pro-

JANUARY
REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRA-
TION
The 67th Republic Day was
celebrated in all its solemnity and grandeur at Polo Ground
with 29 other schools of the city. The students of DPS Asan-
sol presented a march past that was a perfect exhibition of dis-
cipline, military precision and dedicated practice of the stu-
dents. With grit and determina-tion, our students performed
splendidly to win the laurels for their school .
The power of will to compete and drive to excel beyond the
natural capabilities was most beautifully demonstrated by
DPS Asansol . DPSites added a sparkling feather to its cap by
bagging the third position both in March Past and Cultural
Programme
WHAT WHEN & WHERE
Young DPSites showcased their brilliance as they put up a spir-
ited participation in an inter-house quiz competition for
classes II to V conducted on 28 January. The questions asked
were mainly related to general awareness, science and Indian
monuments. There was also an audio-visual round where the
participants had to identify fa-mous Indian personalities. The
participation and response re-ceived from the students is
worth mentioning.
One individual may

FITNESS
Playing Kabaddi is akin to
practising yoga where play-ers control their mind and
body through self-control and concentration. Kabbadi
match added the much needed zing to the daily
routine. All the House Teams showed positive
team spirit and great en-thusiasm during the match.
The match proved to be a golden opportunity for the
students to exhibit their
skills.
EXPLORING AVENUES
It was a moment of great
pride and honor for DPS Asansol as the school
hosted a cultural fiesta of-fering the audience a visual
treat of aesthetic extrava-ganza. The DPSites left no
stone unturned in display-ing their prowess by show-
casing their unmatched skills in the Asansol Book
Fair 2016. The ceremony was a colorful potpourri of
music, dance and skit which was thematic and
message oriented.
ARISE, AWAKE AND
STOP NOT TILL THE
GOAL IS REACHED
To commemorate the 153rd
birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the great
philosopher and maker of modern India, National
Youth Day was celebrated with great joy and enthusi-
asm. The day began with a special assembly compris-
ing of the morning prayer and a speech on the life
and works of Swamiji,
which spread his ideas and ideals among the youth,
inspiring them to strive
hard in the right direction
to achieve success.
COMRADESHIP, COM-
PETITIVENESS AND
COHESION
The exuberance of sports swelled in DPS Asansol
where athletes competed neck to neck in a mesmer-
izing display of sportsman-ship and solidarity as the
school celebrated its 3rd Annual Sports Meet 2016.
The sprightly students of the school showcased their
multifarious skills in a plethora of activities includ-
ing Yoga, Aerobics and a
breathtaking demonstration
of martial art forms includ-ing a human pyramid.
DPSITES DAY OUT
With the dense winter fog clearing the air for sunlight
to penetrate, DPS Asansol organized a fun - filled pic-
nic for Pre - primary classes at Panorama Water and
Amusement Park. The su-per heroes had a frivolous
time enjoying the merry-go-round, star cat, sailing
boat etc.
DESH PREM DIVAS
The students of Delhi Public
School, Asansol celebrated the birth anniversary of the
„Patriot of Patriots‟ Subhas
Chandra Bose, popularly
known as Netaji, with a lot of enthusiasm and patriotic
spirit. A small quiz was con-ducted and students got a
glimpse of the struggles which Netaji exercised
against British Imperialism in India. His high level of
thinking was revealed by his numerous quotes and
speeches.
SUNNY SMILES
The vivid imagination of every child is stimulated by
the card – making activity. The main aim of the activity
was to enhance creativity. Students
were asked to bring chart papers,
decorative material to sketch their
thoughts on the sheet and convey regards to their parents and ex-
press their feelings towards them in every walk of life.
QUEST FOR THE UNKNOWN
A group of 50 students escorted by 5 teachers embarked on an exciting
journey to The City of Joy–Kolkata. Science City enriched the
DPSites with the knowledge of evo-lutionary phases of life and glimpses
of exotic species belonging to differ-ent time periods. The DPSites had
an interactive session with the Edu-cation Officer who briefed them
about the innovations in the field of Science and Technology. The stu-
dents spent browsing the books and
gleefully buried themselves among the various books on display at the
International Kolkata Book Fair.
UBIQUITOUS MILESTONES
To commemorate the birth anniver-
sary of the noble laureate, Sir C.V Raman, DPS Asansol organized a
science exhibition :THE LEADING EDGE. The enthusiasm and skill
clubbed with indepth knowledge of Physics, Chemistry and Biology was
commendable. The exhibits included still models;
working models and research- based projects on electromagnets,
sensors in cars, rainwater harvest-
ing, flood alarms which were very
innovative and relevant to today's time.
FOOTBALL EUPHORIA
An enthusiastic and thrilling Inter-Class Football Match was organized.
The school coach had a great array of players with talent ripe in them.
It was a noisy, colourful occasion and a very tough and tense match.
Battered, bruised and exhausted both the teams played very well.
