HELP College of Arts and Technology Scholarships and Bursaries 2019 Since its establishment in 2010, HELP College of Arts and Technology has awarded many scholarships to encourage Malaysians and international students who demonstrate academic excellence and display leadership qualities to pursue their tertiary education at the College. Many of these recipients have completed their courses and have embarked on successful careers. HELP College of Arts and Technology welcomes both new and continuing students of merit to apply for scholarships and study awards.

Full Scholarships, Partial Scholarships and Study Awards If you meet the minimum criteria, you are required to do the following: 1. Complete a HELP College of Arts and Technology Scholarship Application Form and attach certified copies of your academic transcript.

2. New students are required to submit a HELP College of Arts and Technology Application Form to apply for the chosen programme and pay the Student Application Fee before submitting the scholarship application form. 3. New students will submit the respective forms and attachments to the Scholarship Officer in the Registry before the specified deadline. Late applications will not be considered for selection. 4. The decisions of the Scholarship Committee are final and not subject to appeal.

Important note: 1. As scholarship awards are limited and competitive, only candidates who meet the minimum criteria specified in this brochure are eligible to apply. 2. Meeting the minimum criteria does not automatically guarantee the applicant a scholarship. 3. All scholarship applicants will be evaluated and short-listed by the Scholarship Committee of

HELP College of Arts and Technology. The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to revise the criteria from time to time without prior notice. The decision of the Scholarship Committee is final.

4. Students are only entitled to one scholarship at any one time. Scholarships also cover prizes, study awards, bursaries and fee waivers. 5. Applicants may be awarded a sum that may be less than what is stipulated in the Brochure, depending on the availability of the Scholarship Fund. 6. All scholarships are awarded on a First Come, First Served Basis. 7. Scholarships may differ from intake to intake. Students are advised to submit their application before the stipulated deadline. 8. Scholarship applicants should check with the Scholarship Officer on the deadline for submission.

Description of Eligibility Criteria

SMK (P) Pudu Applicants for full-time academic programmes of HELP CAT are given a 50% tuition fee waiver for Year 1 only. Students shall be charged full-tuition fees in the remaining years of study in a diploma or an undergraduate programme.

HELP-Chinese Independent Secondary Schools Bursary This scholarship is open to all Chinese Independent Secondary School Senior Middle 3 students who have sat for their Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) in 2018. The HELP - Chinese Independent Secondary Schools (CISS) fee waiver is offered in recognition of the invaluable contribution of CISS towards human capital development in the country, and in celebration of the close working relationship between the CISS and the HELP Group of institutions. Scholarship Award ■ 30% Year 1 tuition fee waiver for all undergraduate and diploma programmes offered by HELP University/HELP College of Arts and Technology/HELP Academy. ■ 20% tuition fee waiver for continuing Year 2 & Year 3 students (where applicable) on condition that they attained a minimum CGPA of 2.75 in the preceding year. Terms and Conditions ■ This scholarship is opened to CISS students sitting for exams in 2018 for admission to HELP in the 2019 academic year. ■ The scholarship shall be reviewed yearly; attainment of a minimum CGPA of 2.75 (or equivalent) is required to be eligible for continuation of the scholarship in the following year. ■ Applicants must fulfill the specific entry requirements of the programme applied for. ■ Applicants may apply for the scholarship based on the school’s trial examination results, and the scholarship will be confirmed when the actual UEC examination results are released.

Sports Excellence The above financial aid is awarded to registered students who have excelled in sports and have represented the state or country in competitions. Value ■ 50% waiver in tuition fee for State athletes. ■ 75% waiver in tuition fee for National athletes. Eligibility ■ Full-time Malaysian students in HELP CAT who are state or national sports personalities two years before joining the College. ■ Sport(s) excelled in should be affiliated with the Olympic Council Malaysia. ■ Verification of student status as sports personalities is done by the National or State Sports Association. ■ Recipients must maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.75 for the duration of the scholarship.

Terms and Conditions A. General 1. Scholarships/financial aid is normally available to Malaysians only. 2. The scholarships and financial aid offered is strictly for full-time registered students at HELP College of Arts and Technology. Applicants must make full payment of application and administration/registration fees before they are eligible to apply for scholarships. Otherwise, the scholarship application is considered null and void. For new students, the administration/ registration fee will be refunded if the application is not successful. 3. Scholarships and financial aid awarded is provided in the form of tuition fee waiver. 4. The scholarships/financial aid does not include fees for referral subjects, repeated subjects, examination fees, franchise fees and any English language course that is not part of your main programme, Mata Pelajaran Umum (MPU) subjects, and distance education fees, where applicable. 5. It is to be noted that scholarships/financial aid awarded is neither transferable nor exchangeable for cash. 6. Students receiving scholarships/financial aid from other bodies or institutions are not eligible to apply for the awards of HELP College of Arts and Technology. 7. Students will be entitled to only one scholarship or bursary (whichever is higher) and students are not allowed to combine awards. 8. The award of scholarships/financial aid requires recipients to meet entry requirements of the programmes. 9. Applicants may accept only one scholarship/financial aid at any one time. 10. The final decision to grant a scholarship/financial aid is at the sole discretion of the Scholarship Committee of HELP CAT. Only shortlisted applicants will be notified. 11. HELP College of Arts and Technology reserves the right to revoke any scholarship in case of failure in examinations, unauthorized dropping of courses, withdrawal from a programme before completion and / or non-compliance with HELP Rules and Regulations or with other terms and conditions of the scholarship. Recipients may be required to repay the scholarship amount used upon revocation of the scholarship.

12. Recipients of scholarships who are subsequently found in breach of HELP College of Arts and Technology rules and regulations, academic or otherwise, will have their scholarships revoked and will be required to repay HELP College of Arts and Technology the said sum of money. 13. Recipients of scholarships are required to contribute 3-5 hours per week of their time to assist the Head of Department or his designated staff in administration, peer counselling, extracurricular activities, marketing and promotional activities. 14. The Terms and Conditions for the HELP College of Arts and Technology scholarships and financial aid are correct at the time of printing and may be modified or amended from time to time as deemed reasonable and appropriate by HELP College of Arts and Technology. 15. HELP College of Arts and Technology reserves the right to involve the scholarship/financial aid recipients in interviews, advertisements or other publicity-related activities for the purpose of promoting the institution. 16. The qualifications required for the scholarship may vary from year to year. Applicants should check with the Scholarship Officer on the requirements before applying. 17. Late and incomplete application forms will not be considered for selection.

B. Diploma

The scholarship /financial aid commences in Semester 1. Applicants must make full payment of fees prior to receiving the award.

Recipients must maintain a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.75 or 3.50 out of 4.00 to continue receiving the scholarship for the duration of the scholarship/financial aid.

C. Degree

The scholarship /financial aid will be implemented from the Semester 1 of the programme. Applicants must make full payment of fees prior to receiving the award.

Scholarships are normally for the duration of the programme. As part of the criteria to continue receiving the award, the student has to fulfill the

attainment of Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.75 or 3.50. Decision on the continuation of the scholarship is at the sole discretion of the Head of

Centre of the respective programme and the Scholarship Committee. D. Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
