Concept: Machines, Computer System, Input, Output and Processing unit of the Computer
What I will learn?
Purpose of machines along with examples Basic difference between Data, Processing and information Input, output and processing devices which work together to produce results Categorise devices on the basis of information given/received to/from the device
To watch:
https://youtu.be/GY3nko24TWA
https://youtu.be/uDKBq-3HDUo
To understand:
Purpose of a machine: When we feed input in a machine; it works on the input and changes it into useful output
Examples around you: A juicer works on fruits and gives out juice; an air cooler works to change hot air into cool air
Data: collection of facts and details which are unorganized Processing: sequence of instructions given to a machine to change data into information Information: final result that we get after processing of the data
Data Processing Information 1, 5, 9 Multiplication 45
Input devices: It is hardware device that sends data to a computer, allowing you to interact and control it.
Examples of Input devices: Keyboard, mouse, touchpad, joystick Barcode reader, biometrics devices, card reader, digital camera, digital camcorder, touch screen, game pad, joystick, graphics tablet, light pen, magnetic stripe reader, microphone(free standing, headset), MICR, OMR, stylus, punch card reader, scanner(flatbed scanner, handheld scanner), sensors.
Output devices: Any device that receives information from a computer and displays result. By using an output device, you can view and get the results of input from a computer.
Examples of output devices: printer(Dot matrix, Inkjet, laser and 3D printer) monitor, speakers, headphone, Braille embosser, Braille reader, GPS, projector, speech-generating device, TV, video card

What type of device is a digital camera?________________ g. Bar code reader is an example of.________________ h. The pattern of printed lines on most products are called_______________ i. These devices help you to view or print data. (input devices/output devices)
To create and enjoy:
Draw an e-chart showing flow of input through various input devices and receiving result through output devices e.g. typing a letter- keyboard - display on monitor – printout by printer. (Tool- MS paint, Tux Paint).
Explore the working of 3D printer and pen down few unique details about the working of this printer.

To Enjoy:
Let’s enjoy reading the following sentences and also understand the power of punctuation.
The Power of Punctuation
Recall that punctuation can change the meaning of an entire sentence! Let’s look at an example
where punctuation makes a crucial impact.
Compare these sentences:
a. Let’s eat, Grandma. Take a pause when you reach the comma in the sentence. This
sentence invites Grandma to eat with us.
b. Let’s eat Grandma. With no pause here, this sentence makes it sound as though we are
going to eat Grandma — no one wants that!
Correct, Recreate and Visualize:
Winston is one of the most laid-back people I know he is tall and slim with black hair and he always
wear a t-shirt and black jeans his jeans have holes in them and his baseball boots are scruffy too he
usually sits at the back of the class and he often seems to be asleep however when the exam results
are given out he always gets an ‘A’

Concept - Plants -The source of food
What will I learn?
How are plants useful to us?
How do plants prepare their food?
What are the materials required for photosynthesis?
To See: https://youtu.be/D1Ymc311XS8 To Understand:
We get many useful products like wood, medicine, fruits, vegetables etc from plants. All the food we eat comes directly or indirectly from plants. Plants can make their own food. Leaves are the kitchen of the plant. Food is prepared by taking carbon-dioxide from air, water is absorbed from the soil by the roots in
presence of sunlight. The process of making food by plants is called photosynthesis. In the process of photosynthesis, oxygen is released. The green coloured substance present in leaves is chlorophyll. Raw materials for photosynthesis are - water, minerals, carbon dioxide and sunlight. There are tiny pores present on the undersurface of leaves called stomata. Exchange of gases take place through stomata. The food prepared by plants is in the form of glucose(sugar) .

b) The green pigment present in leaves is ___________.
c) The gas released during photosynthesis is ___________.
