ASHIDA has Designed, Developed & Perfected SCADA (Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition System)

System especially for Substation Automation for Electrical Utility application – ASCADA-SAS. This is a very

powerful computerized system, and brings control of entire substation at your finger tips. As per the

specific requirements & the needs of the client we Design, Manufacture, Supply, Install & Commission

entire ASHIDA SCADA System on turnkey basis. ASHIDA has successfully completed more than 75

projects at various voltage levels from 11KV to 400KV.

The concepts we have used in our ASHIDA SCADA system employ the Remote Terminal Units (RTUs),

Station Controller, Intelligent Electronic Devices (FCCM) and integrating different makes of Bay Controller

Units, Numerical Protection Relays and Multi Function Meters with integration of multiple protocols.

The ASHIDA SCADA system covers complete Energy Management system, Alarms & Status Monitoring

Recording & Control Outputs i.e. to measure digital inputs, analog inputs & control outputs and complete

protection Relay analysis. The SCADA shall support wide range of industry standard protocol such as

IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101, IEC 60870-5-103, MODBUS & DNP. There are multiple options for backend

Data base Server e.g. SQL server etc.

The ASHIDA SCADA supports communication through different media such as Ethernet, Radio VHF, Fiber

Optic, GSM, GPRS, VSAT, P&T Line, PLCC Communication, ADSS Communication etc.

Any change in any status is recorded with a time-stamp with millisecond accuracy. This is stored in its internal RAM till it is transferred to the station controller.

ASHIDA ARTU is based designed around ASHIDA Station Controller ADR200A. This intelligent device communicates

with a number of slave devices (DI, DO Cards, Numerical Relays, etc.) & compiles this information which serves as a

single database of the entire sub-station. This compiled information can then be communicated simultaneously with

Local / Remote Substation as well as Load Dispatch Centre using standard open protocol

Station Controller gathers information from digital input, digital output & analog input cards. It has a combination of five

communication ports. Two RS 232 ports can be used for SCADA PC communication on IEC 60870-5-101 or SPORT

protocol. One Ethernet port can be used for communication on IEC 60870-5-104 protocol. One RS 485 port is used for

communication with Numerical Relays on IEC 60870-5-103 protocol. One more RS 485 port is used for communication

with Energy Meters on MODBUS.

Station Controller performs the following tasks

Continuous scanning of all DI/DO/AI cards & Numeric relays for updated parameter values & events.

Sending control operation command to numeric relays or digital output cards.

Display all acquired information locally on LCD.

Provide all information to control room via communication link on demand.

Sending updated parameters values to RCC as response to commands.

ASHIDA Station-Controller based Smart-RTU (ARTU)

ASHIDA Remote Terminal Unit ASHIDA Sub-station Automation System (ASCADA-SAS) for Utilities is complete solution for remote control & Monitoring of

switching / feeding station. The system consists of SCADA Software on servers at Remote Control Center (RCC Equipment),

Communication Media and ARTUs at the remote stations.

The ARTU in turn acquires most of the status / alarm information from communicable protection relays. Main parts of ASHIDA

RTU are a Station Controller, DI / DO & AI Cards and other accessories. The design is different from conventional ARTUs in that it

interfaces with AI, DI & DO cards using communication link rather using hard-wired communication. Although this necessitates

that all cards have a separate controller of its own, it has been so designed that ARTU can interface with communicable

protection relays & communicable Multi-function electrical meters. Thus making the ARTU virtually future-proof.

The ASHIDA RTU is a single unit for the entire substation for monitoring & controlling all bays in the substation. The ARTU has a

redundant power supply. The ARTU can communicate with the Numerical Relays and Energy Meters and can be interlinked with

these through Fiber Optic cable / copper cable in ring /star network. The ARTU can be time-synchronized from remote.

The ARTU features:

Robust power supplies capable of withstanding surges and operate at +/- 20% of rated voltage.

Compliance to internationally accepted IEC standards for Isolation, Impulse, Fast Transient, HF Disturbance,

Electromagnetic Disturbance, Electrostatic Discharge, EMC, EMI and other relevant type tests as applicable to unprotected

equipment in substation environment.

Digital outputs (including 1 trip & 1 close signal), for trip and close functions (i.e. the command from SCADA) is routed

through separate auxiliary relays.

All the alarms and status inputs are monitored with a resolution of 1 msec. Time stamping of each input is provided. “Chatter-

filtering” of digital inputs is provided to suppress unwanted alarms.

The ARTU supports time synchronization from SCADA through protocol or directly from the GPS clock.

The ARTU extracts the data from the Multifunction Energy Meters or ABT meters provided on each control panel and transfer

the same on MODBUS protocol to the SCADA system

SCADA-Server: Server controls all the communication servers, processes the field objects

and contains all online parameters, inputs, output objects. Sever handles control

operations, interlocks, events, alarms, time synchronization, data logging, etc. It broadcast

the objects data to SCADA-Clients and also receives the requests from them.

SCADA-Client: These provides and HMI for SCADA system. Used to view

online mimic, events, annunciations, perform control operations, etc.

Communication-Servers: These are the Active-X EXEs, create field objects

such as parameters, Dins and controls, etc. Communication server acquires

data from the field devices and updates their objects.

SCADA-Standby-Server: This is a hot standby for SCADA-Server.

When SCADA-Server, stops functioning, SCADA-Standby-Server

takes over and starts functioning as SCADA-Server.

SCADA-Standby-Server-Monitor: This controls the switching

between SCADA-Server and SCADA-Standby-Server.

SAS-Analysis: This is a data analysis utility used for customized

and standard report generation.

SAS-Configuration: Provides an offline configuration for SCADA-

Server. Mimic-configuration utility for Mimic/SLD display.

The sample scheme shown is a typical application of ASHIDA

SCADA System. At sub-station (remote end, controlled) level there

are many Electronic Devices like Numerical Protection Relays, Bay

Controller Units, Multifunction / ABT meters of various makes and on

different protocols. In ASHIDA

SCADA system, we integrate all

different protocols using various

data-concentrators, gateways &

Station-controller. The station

controller in the Smart-RTU, collects

data from MFM on MODBUS protocol & from Numerical Relays,

Bay-control-units & FCCM cards on IEC60870-5-103 & IEC61850

protocol & sends all this data on IEC101/ 104/ SPORT protocol to

SCADA master. It is possible to send this information to two masters'

simultaneously. (eg. Zonal control & Load Dispatch Centre).

The ASHIDA SCADA supports communication through different

media such as Ethernet, Radio VHF, Fiber Optic, GSM, GPRS, VSAT,

P&T Line, PLCC Communication, ADSS Communication, etc.

At Central control station, the Main SCADA Server, communicates

with the Smart-RTU on IEC101/104. It is possible to communicate

with multiple Smart-RTUs from a central location. The scalable

software can serve as HMI or can separate multiple HMIs. Similarly

the database may be stored locally in a file
