Team Lead Roles
● Strategic team lead○ Commits time during deployments, prior to deployments and between deployments○ Leads team during deployments○ Sets the pace and direction of the team in-between deployments○ Point of contact for the team
● Standby team lead○ Commits time during deployments only○ Leads team during deployments○ In-between/prior to deployments, catches up regularly with the Strategic team lead to
make sure they are up to date with the latest ideas and workflows.
Alum team lead○ We want you back whenever you can make it to a deployment!!! ○ Helps guide and advise new team leads and share best practice

Expectations and Considerations During Deployments I
Prepare your team● Train new and returning volunteers before a deployment begins● Make sure they get links to their team's deployment Googledoc with specific workflows,
resources, FAQs etc as early as possible
● Ensure all volunteers have their platform logins sorted out before they start work
Manage your team● Add your participating team members to the team skypechats● Always monitor team chats, and step in to resolve concerns and troubleshoot where
necessary - escalate to Core Team if necessary
● Monitor/manage any other internal communication media used during the deployment ● Keep tabs on the well-being of your volunteers - report to HR if needed● Listen to your team members

Expectations and Considerations During
Deployments II
Manage your team's workflow● Revise team workflow and objectives as needed ● Communicate all changes to volunteers and update them on progress● Recruit more volunteers if needed
Communicate for your team● Communicate progress, bottlenecks, disputes, concerns to the Core Team● Communicate with other team leads, partners, users etc as needed

Expectations and Considerations Between Deployments for Strategic Team-Coordinators
Maintain team readiness● Train your team, to keep them up-to-date with new workflows and platforms● Ensure all volunteers have their logins sorted before they start work on a platform
Set the direction of the team● Watch for new developments in the team's specialist area(s)● Bring in new ideas
Keep team materials up to date● Update resource documents, as needed:
○ Team description○ Workflows and procedures○ Training modules○ Team FAQ
