5. Compliance: This Service Bulletin applies to all Rudder Pedal Mounting Blocks

(Part No.: 2720-003 Ver.1 Rev.A or Earlier). This Service Bulletin does not apply to Rudder Pedal Mounting Blocks (Part No.: 2720-003 Ver.1 Rev.B). Compliance is recommended.

10. Instructions:

a. Inspection:

i. Inspect Rudder Pedal Mounting Blocks. If the Mounting Blocks conform to either 2720-003 Rev. – or Rev. A or earlier, this service bulletin applies. If the Mounting Block conforms to 2720-003 Rev. B, this service bulletin does not apply.

1. If the Rudder Pedal Mounting Blocks exhibit loss of material, the Mounting Blocks should be replaced with 2720-003 Ver. 1 Rev. B.

2. If the Mounting Blocks exhibit no damages or minor cracking but no loss of material, the Rudder Pedal Security Bracket 2720-052 Ver. 1 Rev. – should be installed.

i. Slip the Security Brackets (2720-052 V1 R-) over the Rudder Pedal

Mounting Blocks from front toward aft with the pre-drilled, set-screw hole facing up.

ii. Make sure the Security Brackets fit snugly and are centered (right-to-left) over the Rudder Pedal Mounting Blocks (2720-003 V1 RA).

iii. Using the pre-drilled hole in the bracket as a guide, drill a #40 pilot hole into the Rudder Pedal Mounting Block to a depth of not greater than ½ inch. ➢ NOTE: Do not exceed this depth.

iv. Affix the Security Brackets to the nylon blocks using the supplied, SS sheet metal screws (S05-8) through the holes in the top of the Rudder Pedal Security Bracket.

v. ➢ NOTE: The screw threads into the aluminum bracket while acting as a pin into the nylon pedal block.

i. Removal Tasks:

1. Remove bolt (AN3-06) from where rudder cables attach to rudder cable extensions.

2. Remove screws (#8-18x1” #S100-0818) (2 per side) from the lower end of the upholstered side panels.

3. Remove bolts (AN4-17) (1 per side) from forward end of the cockpit tube uppers. Move them up and out of the way.

4. Remove 3 bolts (AN4-37) and spacers (3/8” x 1 ½” #3220-

013) from aft of floor pan.

5. Remove the top of the Center Console (#1500-009).

6. Remove 2 screws (#8-18 x 1” #S100-0818) (1 per side) and bolt (AN3-23) from forward end of center console lower edge. Loosen inboard seatbelt bolt.

7. Unscrew Rudder Pedal Springs (#5750-006) (1 per side) from hull.

8. Using a thin 7/16” open end wrench to hold head of bolt, remove the nuts from the bolts (AN4-22 and AN4-40) securing the forward channel brackets (#5330-001) through the rudder pedal assembly.

9. Remove nuts (1 per side) from the AN4-41A bolts on front

end of lower outboard cockpit tube.

10. Pull the cockpit tubes, (lower outboard) (1 per side) and (inboard center), up over the bolts.

11. Pull the rudder pedal assembly off of the bolts and out of the hull, leaving the channel brackets attached to the hull.

12. Remove the rudder foam foot pads (#2720-943) from the

foot pad plates (#2720-039 & 040) and drill out the rivets in the foot pad plates allowing for the removal of the plates. ➢ Note: Make sure to file rivets smooth.

13. Remove AN3-20 bolts holding rudder pedal cable standoff and adjuster.

14. Disassemble the rudder pedal assembly, paying attention to rudder pedal tubes hole location. (Pilot’s side in the forward holes.)

15. Remove the Rudder Pedal Mounting Blocks from the assembly.

ii. Replacement Tasks:

1. Replace the old Rudder Pedal Mounting Blocks with the new Blocks.

2. Reassemble the rudder pedal assembly, paying attention to rudder pedal tubes hole location. (Pilot’s side in the forward holes.)

3. Reinsert AN3-20 bolts holding rudder pedal cable standoff and adjuster.

4. Install new rivets into the foot pad plates. 5. Install new rudder foam foot pads (#2720-943) to the foot

pad plates (#2720-039 & 040). 6. Reinstall the rudder pedal assembly onto the channel

bracket bolts that are attached to the hull. 7. Reset the cockpit tubes, (lower outboard) (1 per side) and

(inboard center), down over the bolts. 8. Reinstall nuts (1 per side) from the AN4-41A bolts on front

end of lower outboard cockpit tube. 9. Using a thin 7/16” open end wrench, secure the forward

channel brackets (#5330-001) through the rudder pedal assembly using the existing nuts and bolts (AN 4-22 and AN 4-40).

10. Reapply 5200 marine sealant to spring mount block holes. 11. Reattach the rudder pedal springs (#5750-006) (1 per side)

to the hull. 12. Reaffix 2 screws (#8 – 18x1” #S100-0818) (1 per side) and

bolt (AN 3-23) into forward end of center console lower edge.

13. Reset the top of the center console (#1500-009). 14. Reaffix 3 bolts (AN 4-37) and spacers (#3220-013) into aft of

floor pan. 15. Reaffix bolts (AN 4-17) (1 per side) into forward end of the

cockpit tube uppers. 16. Reaffix screws (#8 – 18 x 1” #S100-0818) (2 per side) into

the lower end of the upholstered side panels. 17. Reaffix bolt (AN 3-06) into where rudder cables attach to

rudder cable extensions.

d. Completion:

i. Reinspect all aforementioned work to assure compliance with instructions.

11. Additional Instructions a. Weight and Balance:

i. Weight and balance changes are negligible and do not require recalculation.

b. Airplane Flight Manual: i. No action required.

c. Repetitive Inspections:

i. Inspections of the Rudder Pedal Mounting Blocks should be performed during subsequent Annual aircraft inspections.

d. Continuing Maintenance: i. Should Rudder Pedal Mounting Blocks exhibit significant cracking

or loss of material at or before subsequent annual inspections, replace the Rudder Pedal Mounting Blocks with new 2720-003 Ver. 1 Rev. B blocks.

e. Log Book Entry: i. Upon completion of this Service Bulletin, document compliance with

this Service Bulletin in the aircraft log book – noting the Service Bulletin Number, Revision and Date of completion.

ii. Complete and submit the attached letter of compliance.
