Sauter Race: a successful start to the joint venture in India.
India’s soaring economy is reflected in its buoyant construction industry, amongst other things. The building infrastructure sector, for example, is increasing by 10% per annum. This is a development that is expected to last for some years yet, so it’s only logical that Sauter is continuously ex-panding its position in India.
Race Technologies: a strong partner
Sauter, with almost a hundred years of experience, has entered into a joint ven-ture with a relatively young company, Race Technologies. At the signing of the contract in November 2006, Bertram
Schmitz, Sauter’s CEO, explained: “The amalgamation of Race’s technical know-how in the Indian market and the exper-tise of Sauter – one of Europe’s leading providers of products and solutions – in the field of building automation, opens up new opportunities for both parties. This collaboration provides us with a solid foundation for substantial growth in the booming Indian economy.”

Race was also involved in equipping Tidel Park in Chennai, the biggest ‘intel-ligent’ building in India. With a built-up area of 119,000 square metres, this com-plex is the current benchmark for building management solutions in the IT and ITES (IT-enabled services) sectors.
In 2005, Race, collaborating with Sau-ter, provided the building management system in the futuristic Cyber Tower on the island of Mauritius. This fully net-
worked building received international acclaim and won the ‘Intelligent Building of the Year’ award.

Green Building Project
In March of 2007, Sauter Race completed the Green Building Project in Chennai. An eight-storey building in the ‘IT corridor’, which stretches for over 50 kilometres out-side the city of Chennai, is home to some
supplier of building management systems in India for years, employing Sauter com-ponents. Sauter Race now provides com-plete solutions for building automation: system engineering, purchasing, software integration, installation and commission-ing, maintenance and servicing, plus tech-nical facility management.
Impressive references
With a staff of 230, Race has completed building management systems for a wide range of companies and buildings, e.g. Tidel Park in Chennai, Cyber Tower in Mauritius, Ascendas, Microsoft, Cog-nizant Technologies, the World Bank, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Philips, Bosch and many more. More than two thirds of all installations in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries in India have been provided by Race – and they are fully in accordance with international standards and suitable for FDA validation.
