Clough, former governor of Minnesota, died last week at his - home at Everett, Washington where he had lived for the past twenty years. Mr. Clough was Governor from January 31st., 1895 to January Ist., 1899 and gave to the state a strong and efficient administration. He is survived by his wife and one daughter. ! Wm. G. Frank of Springfield has been appointed one of the delegates ! to attend the National Dairy Conven- tion to be held in Milwaukee Septem- ber 27th to October 4th. A series of tours to visit some of the famous dairy farms of Wisconsin is an im- portant part of the interesting con- vention program. Springfield is making ready for its annual “Sauerkraut Day,” Com- mittees will soon be appointed to out- i line the program for the day. One ! of the features will be a display of farm products, for which substantial I premiums will be offered. A free sauerkraut dinner will be served. Last year’s celebration was attended 1 by more than ten thousand, and it is j expected that this year’s crowd will exceed that of a year ago. Six bandits held up the village of Svea in Kandiyohi County last Thurs- i day, and robbed the bank and the I postoffice, getting a total of about S6OO. ' The robbery took place at mid- night and the robbers took possession of the town, terrorized the residents by a big. display of firearms and a few shots and proceeded to literally chop their way into the vault of the bank. Cosmos, a small village near Litchfield sustained a similar bank robbery within the past ten days. Mrs. Jos. Schwarz of Wabasso died at her home Monday, August 25th after a ten days illness caused by a paralytic stroke. Funeral services were held at the Catholic Church at Wabasso Wednesday. Mrs. Schwarz has for many years been a resident of Redwood County having lived near Clements prior to her removal to the farm home near Wabasso. Erickson, formerly of Spring- field, has disposed of his law prac- tice at St. Cloud and will open an office in Minneapolis for the publica- tion of a new magazine, the name and character of which will be an- nounced next week. Mr. Erickson practiced law in this city for 17 years before’ moving to St. Cloud three years ago. For the past ten years he has been interested in the newspaper business, being secretary and treasurer of the Springfield Pub- lishing company, publishers of the Advance-Press, and the lure of the newspaper game, for which he has always confessed a preference, was too great to overcome. A. G. Erickson, formerly of Spring-field, has disposed of his law prac-tice at St. Cloud and will open anoffice in Minneapolis for the publica-tion of a new magazine, the nameand character of which will be an-nounced next week. Mr. Ericksonpracticed law in this city for 17years before’ moving to St. Cloudthree years ago. For the past tenyears he has been interested in thenewspaper business, being secretaryand treasurer of the Springfield Pub-lishing company, publishers of theAdvance-Press, and the lure of thenewspaper game, for which he hasalways confessed a preference, wastoo great to overcome. Mr. Erickson’snew magazine will be state-wide inscope. His family may continue toreside in St. Cloud until next spring.—Springfield Advance.
