1. Simulating Tissue Specifications

Brain & Muscle Simulating Mixture Characterization The brain and muscle mixtures consist of a viscous gel using hydroxethylcellullose (HEC) gelling agent and saline solution. Preservation with a bacteriacide is added and visual inspection is made to make sure air bubbles are not trapped during the mixing process. The mixture is calibrated to obtain proper dielectric constant (permittivity) and conductivity of the desired tissue. The head tissue dielectric parameters recommended by the IEEE SCC-34/SC-2 have been incorporated in the following tables. Other head and body tissue parameters that have not been specified in P1528 are derived from the issue dielectric parameters computed from the 4-Cole-Cole equations.

3. SAR Test Data Summary

Procedures Used To Establish Test Signal The device was placed into simulated transmit mode using the manufacturer’s test codes. Such test signals offer a consistent means for testing SAR and are recommended for evaluating SAR. When test modes are not available or inappropriate for testing a device, the actual transmission is activated through a base station simulator or similar equipment. See data pages for actual procedure used in measurement.

Device Test Condition The device is battery operated. Each SAR measurement was taken with a fully charged battery. In order to verify that the device was tested at full power, conducted output power measurements were performed before and after each SAR measurement to confirm the output power. If a conducted power deviation of more than 5% occurred, the test was repeated. On the following data summary pages, table 1 on each page indicates the 1 gram and 10 gram average values of the SAR. These average values are computed by averaging all the single point SAR measurements in a 1 gram cube of tissue and a 10 gram cube of tissue, respectively. For North America, the SAR limit is 1.6 w/kg averaged over 1 gram of tissue; and, for the EU, the SAR limit is 2.0 w/kg averaged over 10 grams of tissue. Table 2 shows what the highest single point SAR value was during the area scan and the zoom scan. This measurement is a single point value and is one of the points used to compute the final average SAR value in table 1. The measurement of the area scan is conducted first to determine the highest point SAR value. The zoom scan is then conducted with the center of the scan cube located at the area scan maximum.

6. Conclusion These measurements are taken to simulate the RF exposure effects under worst-case conditions. Precise laboratory measures were taken to assure repeatability of the tests. The tested device complies with the requirements in respect to all parameters subject to the test. The test results and statements relate only to the item(s) tested. I conclude from all the documented measurements that the application of the MRET polymeric chip to the RF phones does not increase SAR values. To the contrary, the application of the MRET polymeric chip to the RF phones clearly decreases SAR values beyond the level of uncertainty. When the MRET polymeric chip was applied to the RF phones operating at 1800 Mhz, all 10 gram SAR values were reduced beyond the level of uncertainty, by a range of 7.9% to 24.4%. The comparison between these reductions in SAR and the levels of uncertainty (2.8%) showed that the intervention of the MRET polymeric chip caused a decrease in SAR values of 2.8 times to 8.7 times greater than the level of uncertainty. When the MRET polymeric chip is was applied to the RF phones operating at 900 Mhz, all but one 10 gram SAR values were reduced beyond the level of uncertainty by a range of 3.5% to 8.5%. The comparison between these reductions in SAR and the levels of uncertainty (2.8%) showed that the intervention of the MRET polymeric chips caused a decrease in SAR values of 1.25 times to 3 times greater than the level of uncertainty. The hot spots remained in the same location as without the intervention of the MRET polymeric chips but their amplitudes decreased by 95% of data points. 243 data points were measured for each mobile phone.

Head Measurement Conditions The measurements were performed in the Uni-Phantom filled with head simulating liquid of the following electrical parameters at 835 MHz: Relative Dielectricity 41.48 ± 5% Conductivity 0.92 mho/m ± 5% The APREL Laboratories ALSAS system with a dosimetric E-field probe E-020 (SN:217, Conversion factor 6.0 at 835 MHz) was used for the measurements. Head Measurement Conditions The measurements were performed in the Uni-Phantom filled with head simulating liquid of the following electrical parameters at 1900 MHz: Relative Dielectricity 39.97 ± 5% Conductivity 1.41 mho/m ± 5% The APREL Laboratories ALSAS system with a dosimetric E-field probe E-020 (SN:217, Conversion factor 4.65 at 1900 MHz) was used for the measurements. The dipole was mounted so that the dipole feed point was positioned below the center marking of the flat phantom and the dipole was oriented parallel to the body axis (the long side of the phantom). The standard measuring distance was 10mm from the dipole center to the solution surface. The coarse grid with a grid spacing of 10mm was aligned with the dipole. The 5x5x8 fine cube was chosen for cube integration. The dipole input power (forward power) was 100mW ± 3%. The results are normalized to 1W input power. The laboratories environmental conditions were as follows during the calibration sequence.
