Initial situation and important factsWhy should SAP EP customers look at the cloud platform now?

1. The SAP Cloud Platform offers clear advantages in terms of agility and flexibility. Basic IT tasks / security activities are shifted to SAP as platform operator. SAP Enterprise Portals are complex systems that require regular maintenance and corresponding competencies in the company.

2. The SAP Cloud Platform is the platform for new software from SAP. These include the new SAP Digital Workplace Solution, the Central Fiori Launchpad, and other central cloud platform services such as Search, One Inbox, and Notifications, as well as AI technologies.

3. The cloud is ideally suited for external and mobile access to internal systems / services. The portal is "out of the box" on the Internet and only accesses internal services securely via the Cloud Connector.

› Clear answer: There is (unfortunately) no optimal migration path. The right path for you depends on your initial situation, your goals, your budget and your IT strategy.

› For one company the step to the SAP Cloud Platform is mandatory; other companies for example should modernise their existing SAP Enterprise Portal once again.

› Common thread: a hybrid infrastructure will become the standard in almost every company!
