On behalf of Santa
Rita Estates, I am
delighted to welcome
you to the third in our
series of South American
WineWorkshops. Today’s
event builds on last year’s
successful tastings and
lectures by reflecting a real commitment
from the wider team at Santa Rita
Estates to add value to the wine industry
through education.
With this commitment in mind we have
listened to a number of requests from
attendees last year and have chosen to
challenge our speakers to expand on the
theme of Cabernet Family Origins. The
aim of the day is put on an educational
varietal tasting using wines from not only
Chile and Argentina but from around the
globe, comparing and contrasting how the
effects of latitude, terroir, viticulture and
winemaking all contribute in sculpting the
final product.
Aligned to the Cabernet Family Origins
will be a discussion on the merits of
Sustainability in the world of wine, a key
driver in the ethos of Santa Rita Estates.
I am thrilled that we are joined again this
year by Mr Brian Croser who has travelled
from Australia especially to attend today’s
session. Our workshops will also see
contributions from Tim Atkin MW and a
number of senior colleagues from the Santa
Rita Estates viticulture and winemaking
team.
As always, I would also like to express my
sincere thanks to Wines of Chile and Wines
of Argentina for their ongoing support.
Both organisations are dynamic in the help
they offer to all levels of the UK & Ireland
wine trade and are a significant partner for
all the wine producers that they represent.
If you would like to access content from
the 2012 and 2013 South American
Wine Workshops this is now available on
www.santaritaestateseurope.com. The
content from today will also be available
on the website from the end of January.
Finally, on behalf of all the Santa Rita
Estates team, may I take this opportunity to
wish you a belated Happy New Year and to
say thank you for taking the time to attend
this workshop, as well as for your continued
interest and partnership with our wines.
I sincerely hope that you enjoy
today’s event.
