JUDGES JUDGES: Chamber officials have invited area residents to judge this year’s parade: Paula Snyder, Jamestown Community College; Max Bullers, Home Depot of Olean, and Eric Garvin, Community Bank NA. The judges will be located in a Close’s Lumber truck on North Union Street near Laurens Street intersection.

PARADE START/DIRECTIONPARADE START/DIRECTION: TheParade is scheduled to begin at 7 PM on

Friday, November 29, near the Burger Kingon North Union Street in Olean. The Parade

will travel south on Union to just pastLincoln Park where units will begin todisperse once they arrive at Henley

Street. The parade will use BOTH SIDES ofthe street.

OFFICIAL EMCEESOFFICIAL EMCEES: WPIG-FM will be theofficial emcees of the parade and will

announce the parade line up at their officialemcee booth near the intersection of Union

and State Streets.

Eight awards will be presented in thefollowing categories: The Blitzen Award,sponsored by Times Herald will go to themost photogenic float or unit; TheSeasons Greetings Award, sponsoredby Olean PC Repair and SecurityCameras by Joe Duplechian to the bestnewcomer to the parade, and one thattypifies a welcoming theme - this unit mustbe a first-time entrant; The RudolphAward, sponsored by National Grid Co.,for the float with the most or best use oflights; The Snowflake Award, sponsoredby the Street Classics Car Club for theunit with the most participants in theparade, Angelic Spirit Award,sponsored by Mandy’s Flowers, will go tothe most spiritual/religious float orunit. The Elves Award, sponsored byOwl Homes Group, will go to the float orunit that best typifies the holiday throughthe eyes of a child; Jingle Bells Award,sponsored by Milestone FinancialStrategies, will go to the best theatrical(music/dance) float or unit; and TheSleigh Award, presented by TheBantelman Agency, will go to the mostdecorated larger truck (fire truck, flatbed,utility vehicles, etc.)

Delaware Avenue will be closed to trafficat 6 p.m. with North Union Street closing

to traffic at 6:45 PM. The City’s downtownparking lots will be opened and free to

park. The City Building’s restrooms will beopened the night of the parade from 6 -

8:30 PM. Extra uniformed personnel ofthe Olean Fire and Police Departments

will be on hand. Lost children shouldreport to the Chamber office.

The parking spaces along BOTHSIDES of North Union Street from

Route 417 to the railroad will beclosed for parking vehicles at 4

PM. Cars, trucks, etc. will be allowed topark back along these spaces after 830

PM.

Also, the detour route will be First Streetfrom Wayne to Henley as well as

East/West Henley from South First Streetto South Barry Streets. No parking will be

allowed along the detour route as well.

Parade organizers stress that nospectators will be allowed to view

on the medians and / orroundabouts during the parade.

BACK AGAINBACK AGAIN: Mercy Flight of WesternNew York will officially kick off the paradewith a fly over and then their spotlight willshine up the parade route. Mercy FlightWNY is an independent, not-for-profit

provider of emergency air-medicaltransport and supporting services,

ensuring rapid, safe and cost effectivedelivery of expert emergency response

teams.

children in our immediate area.
