Sane Women – Mad Men Posted by Peter on May 15, 2015 in Blog Watching Betty give her daughter Sally an envelope, with instructions on how to cope after her impending death from cancer made me think that the women in this series are the real heroes. The men are mad, bad…I still love them, but they are pretty, well mad! A great programme particularly if you love marketing, advertising and TV. The other thing about this particular episode was quite personal to me. Wonderful Betty who was told she had cancer with just months to live. She could be criticized for being ice-cold, but her reaction in thinking of the children struck a chord with me. There were elements of heroism in this. A very close member in my family had 24 hours to live a few years ago. How did he feel? “Guilty at not doing more for the family.” Now when actually he had a reprieve, it changed his whole outlook. That person was pretty close…in fact it was me. Subsequently I realised the guilt was largely unnecessary but I don’t waste any time in my days now… Peter
