REVENUE CYCLE ANALYST / PRIMARY SOFTWARE TRAINING SPECIALIST and COMPLIANCE OFFICER (06/2007 – 04/2015)

Responsible for monitoring financial stability for a leading reproductive endocrinology group. Coordinated and reported on all clerical and financial operations for 10 clinics and 2 surgical facilities. Reviewed and verified claims and statements daily to ensure expeditious distribution. Communicated regularly with clinic managers regarding financial, scheduling, and clerical issues to facilitate prompt resolution and remediation. Responsible for training of all new employees on Misys, Allscripts systems and the Microsoft Office Suite to ensure their competence in usage of these software products. My training processes included face to face, classroom and Go To Meeting webinars. Also responsible for Sarbanes Oxley and HIPAA compliance training and their oversight.

Selected accomplishments:

Established a weekly Performance Report that helped to recognize $80,000-$110,000 in unbillable patient and insurance claims due to human error. As a result of my uncovering these errors, I also put into place a solution that reduced our weekly unbillable claims to $1,000-$2,500.

Served as a key point of contact with all management personnel including the executive director, financial officers, human resources team, billers, collectors, posters, and other colleagues to ensure open and effective communication to maintain efficiency and financial solvency.

Highly skilled at interacting and communicating with patients, front office and clinical staff to help maintain day to day continuity of care between our patients and staff.

Conducted detailed review of claims and statements to make any necessary adjustments to ensure clean claims submitted for payment to minimize errors and lags.

HEALTH INSURANCE COORDINATION MANAGER (12/2000 – 06/2007)Tasked with recovery of $3.2M in insurance claims that were 90 + days past due. Established relationships with key contacts at various insurance companies that led to recoupment of $2.8M within four months.

Selected accomplishments: Established the Insurance Benefit Verification Program that entailed direct communication with each

new patient’s insurance company to determine exactly which medical services would and would not be covered.

Trained a staff of 18 direct reports to accurately communicate the insurance benefit verification findings to each new patient so that they would know, prior to treatment beginning, what to expect in regards to their personal financial obligation.

Established an Insurance Precertification Program in which I would notify, exchange clinical information, and gain precertification (permission), before beginning any treatment for any insured patient.

These efforts significantly reduced past due balances owned by insurance and helped maintain accounts receivable manageability.

EVANSTON NORTHWESTERN HEALTHCARE, (ENH), Glenview, ILOFFICE MANAGER (6/1996 – 12/2000)

Oversaw day-to-day operations for large medical practice with 8 internal medicine physicians and two cardiologists. My staff also included registered nurses, medical assistants, lab technicians, billers, and clerical personnel. Responsibilities included budgeting, insurance credentialing and coordination of care between our patients and all staff members.

Selected accomplishments:

Ensured streamlined daily processes and workflows by effectively supervising support / office staff and monitoring performance metrics.

Developed and implemented policies and procedures encompassing all areas of operations to enable clinical staff to focus on patient care.

Acted as the liaison between the physicians of our group and the management heads at ENH to insure that the clinical needs of our physicians were met and sustained and that the business guidelines of ENH were upheld by our physicians.

Instrumental in transitioning our physicians and practice to a more compliant atmosphere regarding the reduction of payments, gifts, honoraria, travel and other means which is now recognized under state and federal law.
