1. Meeting call to order by Mel KK6MES at 7 pm

2. Attending: Mel KK6MES, Ron KD6ZXG, Tim W6TST, Dave KD6LSH, Sara KJ6SAS, Gary K5CHP, Ron AG6GE, Jack W6KRK, Kevin KE6EVJ

3. Treasurer report: Ron KD6ZXG

a. Ron presented the budget report and transaction activity. One deposit source for membership and logo clothing remains unidentified. The prior debit card has been cancelled and a new one activated. Ron would like a self inking stamping to endorse checks for deposits, $38. Jack motioned to approve $40 for a stamp. Dave seconded, motion carried.

Budget/Balance/Profit report – website costs exceeded projection (approved at prior meeting). Dave motioned to approve treasure’s report, Tim seconded, approved. b. Tim reactivated the donation button on FaceBook “Network for Good” and several donations came

through! c. Northern Amateur Relay Council of California (NARCC), repeater coordinating body, dues are

payable d. Updated list of paid members – 17 count (corrected to 22 by Ron 4/4) e. Mel’s logo order – on hold; shirts and hats currently in inventory to be sold first.

4. Secretary report: Sara KJ6SAS did not send out final March meeting report. Will be sent with April

meeting minutes for May approval.

5. Current Business: a. Five Year Plan – Top Two Priorities and Actions taken or to be taken with dates:

i. Recruitment: Mel KK6MES (lead) • Community Night update – Mel – Baofeng class had 27 attendees, follow-up class to be

planned in conjunction with Tim’s introduction Ham 101 class - date TBD. Mel offered to hold basic and advanced classes, TBD.

• May 4 - Scouting merit badge for ham radio, possible coordination with May 4 Ham Cram. Jack W6KRK (lead) will lead scouting merit badge. Youth Protection training required. Mel is the district trainer and will send out notification for sessions April 17 at Jack’s office and April 30 at the Briggs Building. Gary K5CHP to assist.

• July 20 - Hollister Street Festival Car Show. SBCARA booth. Hollister Downtown Assoc. has approved a booth near the pinewood derby track at the Vet’s Building. Tim (and possibly Jack) volunteered to staff the booth from 10 – 4pm.

• hamhelp@sbcara – updates, Jack W6KRK noted that his W6KRK.com website also links to ham help.

ii. Digital radio repeater platform update – Dave KD6LSH (lead) reported on published Fusion, DMR and DStar repeaters repeaters in the area. Mel noted that some of these repeaters may not be functioning. A DMR repeater is going to be set up at Jack’s house. Jack uses a hot spot, internet service required.

iii. Evaluate and Expand Repeater Coverage update - Ron KD6ZXG (lead) no updates iv. MPF Grant update – Sara KJ6SAS (lead) grant accepted waiting for decision in June. If

successful Tim will advise on purchasing equipment for schools. Ron KD6ZXG and Gary K5CHP are also instrumental. Sara will work with OES, Kevin O’Neil and the SBC School Board Technical Advisor, Roy Simms for guidance on SBCARA volunteer installations. Antenna installation may require special consideration.

v. Create emergency communications training night – Tim (lead) – ARES/RACES radio, digital and satellite - possible Friday, May 31 date, hold for after SOC …





vi. Call Mountain UHF repeater update – Jack W6KRK and Ron, pending weather. b. April 11, 13, 14 Sea Otter Classic update – Tim W6TST preparations starting this Sunday, more

volunteers welcomed. 4 repeaters will be set up, UHF, VHF and APRS. Gary lead on Carmel Valley route. Ron will manage repeater on Chews Ridge.

6. New Business:

a. N6SBC Net control: April – Sal KK6EQV May – Kevin KM6OMQ/Jack W6KRK June – Tim W6TST July - … b. April 18, Ham Fun Night – Jack W6KRK DX Engineering, RF grounding. c. May 4 – Ham Cram and Testing, San Benito Co Sheriff’s Dept. d. DOC - organize equipment and clean-up needed – date TBD e. Field Day, June 22-23, Christmas Hill Park, Gilroy Jack lead. 11 am start, camp overs TBD.
