Instructions

Same versus Different

This set will teach visual discrimination skills to children. The ability to discern commonalities and differences in objects is an importantskill. These motivating cards will easily help your student master this skill.

Contained in this downloadInstructions for use

60 cards

Easy to use Print the document and cut out the cards.

Take note that all the cards are numbered at the top

Teach the concept Same. Place 2 identical cards on the table and say Same.

Repeat this as many times as necessary with identical cards. Ask the child Are these the same?

Once the child has mastered same, introduce the concept different

Place 2 completely different cards on the table and say Different

Repeat this as many times as necessary with different cards while you ask Are these different? As the child begins to get more proficient with this skill, start using the different cards from the same numbered set

Practice this concept as many times as necessary and point out the attributes in the cards that are different

When the concepts Same and Different have been mastered, its time to begin interspersing between them Place 2 identical cards on the table with a completely different card and ask the child to point to the cards that are the same. Then

ask the child to point to the card that is different Keep the identical cards on the table and select another different card. Repeat the instruction again. When the child becomes proficient, place 2 identical cards on the table and the different card from the same numbered set. Ask the child Which cards are the same? and Which one is different?
