It is best to do spiritual reflection
This explores one of the central sites of the LDS Church – Temple Square
This is for Mormons and Non-Mormons alike
Space
This pilgrimage is focused around Temple Square
This space is sacred to Mormons
Please do not swear or talk dirty within the grounds
The space provides information, history, and wonder
Everything is organized around the Temple
A lot of the buildings provide certain functions such as a place to worship (Temple) and a place to do genealogy (The Family History Building
Purpose
Learn about the importance of Salt Lake City for the LDS members (for Non-Mormons)
Learn about the history of the LDS Church (For Non-Mormons and Mormons)
Reflect on one’s life (for Mormons and Non-Mormons)
Visit the Temple Square (for Mormons and Non-Mormons)
Go into the Salt Lake Temple (for Mormons)
Time
This can be done anytime during the year
It is best to rest on Sunday and not travel, but attend the sacrament meetings at your nearest LDS ward house
The best time to go is during General Conference because of all the people that will be there and it is a special time for the members of the LDS Church
It is also beautiful to do it while the Christmas lights are up in December
Take several days to explore Temple Square
Preparation
Watch LDS movies such as 17 Miracles and Praise to the Man
Learn as much as one can about the LDS Church through LDS.org (for Non-Mormons)
Study the LDS scriptures
Pray
Attend Mormon Sacrament meetings
Talk with the members of the LDS Church (Non-Mormons)
Temple Square Activities/Milestones
Explore the visitor centers
Go through the Church History Building
Do some genealogy in the Family History Buidling
Watch the Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building
Listen to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir
Explore the temple grounds
Go inside the Salt Lake Temple (Mormons only)
Can be done in any order, but it is suggested to do all.
Rituals
Temple rituals such as Baptisms for the Dead, Sealings for the Dead (For Mormons)
Prayer at the start of each day especially asking God to open your heart to the knowledge that He wants to provide
Prayer at the end of day especially thanking God for the opportunity to gain knowledge about the LDS Church
Take time after each place to reflect and meditate about the information
Reintegration
Reflect on your journey by the reflecting pool by the temple
Enjoy some time in the Gateway or City Creek Mall
Eat a good meal in one of the surrounding restaurants like the Lion House or the Nauvoo Café in the Joseph Memorial Building
Get some souvenirs to take home to remember your time in Salt Lake City
