o £200 million hospital building redevelopment due to be completed in 2012.
o The project will see 36,000 square metres of state of the art accommodation vastly improving facilities for staff and patients.
o Phase 1 of the redevelopment is the construction of a multi-storey car park for 1,100 cars and an academic block.

As well as the Car Park and Academic block, once the new hospital is completed it will provide:

During April 2008 the Trust launched its Quality Improvement Strategy.
The role of the Quality Directorate is to:• Advise the Board on strategic issues relating to
quality.• Provide expertise in quality improvement
methods.• Build internal capability for quality improvement. • Connect the organisation to external partners.

Secretary of State Alan Johnson visited the Trust to launch an innovative and leading edge Quality
Improvement Strategy aimed at improving the safety and quality of services to compare with
the best in the NHS.
