Contest!! A New Name for “Hospitality Weekend”

Let’s have some fun!! There has to be a better name than “Donut Sunday” or “Hospitality Week-end”, but so far no one on parish staff is clever enough to think of one. We want to see who can come up with the catchiest title for Hospitality Weekend. Saturday evening is always wine, cheese, and shrimp fol-lowing the 5:30PM Vigil Mass and coffee, donuts, and bagels are offered following all Sunday morn-ing Masses. We want to add some healthy items to the Sunday menu when we resume in the Fall. Send your ideas to: [email protected] or [email protected] by June 19. A prize will be awarded to the most clever name. Thanks for your participation and creative ideas.

Facilities

Recycling Containers We wanted to make all Saints Peter and Paul Parishioners aware of an upcoming change. On June 15 the three cardboard recycling containers will be removed from our property. The original purpose of the containers was to gen-erate funds for our school. This is no longer a worthwhile scenario as most households are now capable of recycling on their own. The containers are also an eyesore to our neigh-bors in Hershey’s Mill whose homes back up to our property. We encourage you to continue to recycle as a good stewardship practice towards Creation. There are a few other local places that offer similar public containers for recycling if you need. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Bob Falkenstein

Outside Benches near Our Blessed Mother Statue

The benches at the Blessed Mother Statue out-side the entrance of Church have become a safe-ty concern due to rotting. The benches will need to be replaced, but until we have the funds to make these purchases, we want to make our parishioners aware of this removal! If anyone is interested in helping out with this pro-ject, please fell free to contact Bob Falkenstein at 610.692.2216, ext. 267. Thank you.

WiFi is Available in the Church, Church Hall and the Lobby

Did you know that we now have WiFi in the Church Hall, Lobby and Sanctuary?

Many parishioners have asked if this could be set up so they could access the internet while they were having prayer groups meetings, or saying their prayers during Adoration of The Blessed Sacrament. The password is:ChurchGuest2015.

Sacraments For You, Your Spouse, or Your Children

Were you or your spouse never confirmed? Has your child above the age of 9, never been bap-tized? Do you have a child over the age of 12, who never received Holy Communion or Confir-mation? Do you have a non-Catholic spouse that might be open to considering becoming Catholic? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then RCIA might be the right fit for you! RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the process of preparing adults and children over the age of 10, for the Sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation. To join the Fall RCIA group, or for any other inquiries, please contact: Daniel Hoover at: [email protected].

11 Cents: Love Without Limit

St. Padre Pio said, “If we could see each other’s souls we would be tempted to worship one an-other.” He knew what he was talking about, as Padre Pio could see demons and angels in his everyday life. He had a special insight into the spiritual realm. Padre Pio was probably right when he says that the human soul is so glorious that we would almost think it was God Himself. Psalm 17:20 says, “The Lord saved me because He delighted in me.” If we can say that prayer and personally own it, we are one step closer to understanding the truth about ourselves. God delights in us, not for what we do but for who we are. We must take it beyond ourselves, realizing that if God delights in me, He delights in every-one else just as much. St. Terese, The Little Flower, said, “The worst sins are the sins against charity.” That means that the sins that hurt us and displease God the most, are the sins we commit against one anoth-er and against God. When we sin against others we disrespect what is sacred and what God loves most: His children. How we treat one an-other must be felt as a daily demand, a Divine mandate. The sins we commit against God’s charity are laid out in the Catechism of the Cath-olic Church as indifference, ingratitude, luke-warmness, spiritual sloth, and hatred of God. Do you commit any of these? I sure do. It seems that usually we measure ourselves by our actions: “Do I go to church?” “ Am I honest?” “Do I pray?” Those are less important than the question: “Do I love?” This is most important to Jesus, His greatest commandments: love God, love neighbor. Let us seek to love without limit; to love without end. Let us be mortified by the thought that we might hurt or offend someone who is precious to God (which is everyone). When we do let us ask for their forgiveness. Let us search our hearts for self-satisfaction and replace it instead with great-er gratitude, not for what we have done but, for what God has done in, through, and for us. For we are His, and all we have that is good comes from Him.

Liturgy Corner

Wow! As I mentioned last week, even though summer is on our doorstep and many of our “School Year” ministries and activities are winding down, it still seems like there is a lot going on and some interesting things on the horizon. As most of you have probably heard, in the Fall we are mak-ing a couple of changes to the Mass Schedule, including moving the Saturday afternoon Vigil Mass to 4:30PM and adding a Mass at 5:30PM on Sunday evenings for the convenience of our Pa-rishioners. For the Worship Department this means gearing up our current Liturgical Ministers and encouraging new folks to consider participat-ing as Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Sacristans, Altar Servers, Greeters and Ushers for the ex-panded schedule, especially the new Sunday evening Mass. Also, the Worship Department will be bringing in presiders in order to help Fr. Jim with the increased number of Masses. Actually, we might see the new or familiar faces of a few extra priests assisting during weekends as early as this summer as well! Speaking of this summer, during the next few months you might notice Mary Devenney playing organ and piano at some of our Liturgies. Mary is a past organist alumna of the Saints Peter and Paul Parish Music Ministry and has graciously offered to help us out again. Ulti-mately, I am praying that this will be an opportuni-ty to draw attention to the spiritual benefits availa-ble to those who kindly give of their time and tal-ent in service to the Church, our Parish and their brothers and sisters in Christ.
