EASTER SUNDAY MARCH 31 / APRIL 1, 2018
From your Pastor … I extend to all of you a most Blessed Easter. Easter Sunday and its Octave (the seven days following Easter Sunday) celebrate the most important reality of our Christian Faith, that Jesus Christ rose from the dead in his body and is forever alive in his Church and in heaven and that he invites all who believe in him to share in this new life. May the graces of Holy Easter come to rest on you and your family. I extend a special thank you to all who were involved in assist-ing with our Holy Week liturgies; to the ushers, readers, servers, extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist, our choir, vocalists, accompanists and to Deacon Tully. The presence of the fourth degree Knights of Columbus is always wonderful. Thank you to all who were involved in decorating the Church and the sanctuary, especially Mari Lu Marshall and to all who made donations to cover the cost of the beautiful flowers that grace the sanctuary. We have some important celebrations coming up over the next weeks. Next weekend we celebrate Mercy Sunday. As we did last year we shall pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy approximately five minutes after each of the Masses. Please plan to stay and join in praying the chaplet. Incense will not be used at next Sunday’s Masses. On Sunday, April 22nd at the 10:30 a.m. Mass we shall cele-brate First Holy Communion. There will be a practice on Saturday, April 21st for the first communicants and their parents at 10:00 a.m. We look forward to this wonderful day with the children. (A reminder to parents of the first communicant children that there is a meeting in the Commons, (Convent) this Tuesday, April 3rd at 6:30 pm.
On Thursday, May 3rd, the Sacrament of Confirmation will
be celebrated at Saint Mary Church in Viroqua at 6:30 p.m. with Bishop William P. Callahan as celebrant. The practice will take place one hour (5:30 p.m.) before the beginning of the Mass. Finally, I wish to invite all of you Saturday, April 14th to the Richland Center Community Center for our parish’s annual Sportsman’s Extravaganza. There will be good food and drink along with opportunities to win various guns, bows, optics, knives, and other items. Our PCCW ladies will be hosting a jewelry table. There will be numerous door prizes. There is no admission charge. The doors open at 6:00 p.m. The final raffle for the evening is a choice between 40 acres of hunting land in northern Wisconsin or a $25,000 cash prize. Tickets for the land drawing can be purchased at the Extravaganza. We ask that our workers please arrive by 5:00 p.m. so you can receive some in-service and get a plateful of good food. It is an excellent fundraiser for our parish and a good time for those who attend, tell your family and friends to come.
Until I write again, may God bless you and all the parishioners of Saint Mary Parish.
