When Jesus is lifted up, he will draw all to himself. The Christian steward knows life can’t be lived in complacency. We are called to die to self, bear more fruit, be raised up with Jesus. Jesus brings discom�fort to those who are comfortable. Jesus urges us to give witness in his name. How will we respond?

Quinto Domingo de Cuaresma La historia proclamada en el Evangelio este in de semana es la narracion acerca de Jesus invitando a sus discı pulos a un gran misterio con inquisitivos pronunciamientos: El que tiene apego a su vida la perdera… Si el grano de trigo que cae en la tierra no muere, queda solo, pero si muere da mucho fruto… ¿Que quiere decir Jesus? El evento climatico de la pasion y muerte de Jesus esta mas cerca; un tiempo en el que la gran confrontacion entre Jesus y los poderes de la obscuridad se lleva a cabo. Cuando Jesus sea elevado, atraera a todos hacia El. El corresponsable cristiano sabe que la vida no puede ser vivida en complacencia. Somos llamados a morir a para nosotros mismos, a dar mas fruto, y a resucitar con Jesus a la vida eterna. Jesus lleva incomodidad a aquellos que estan comodos. Jesus nos impulsa a salir de nuestra “zona de con-fort” y a dar testimonio en su nombre. ¿Como responderemos?

PARISH LENTEN RETREAT This year we will be offering a Lenten Retreat to prepare our-selves to celebrate Easter and re-af irming our faith in Jesus Christ and His Church. The theme of our Lenten Retreat is: “Finding God in

Cambio De Horario de Misa en esta Semana Las Misas de esta semana va a tener un cambio de hora por el Retiro Cuaresmal de Ingles. La Misa del Martes, 23 de marzo y Jueves, 25 de Marzo se va a celebrar a las 6:00 p.m.

LENT CUARESMA The Holy Season of Lent, where the Church proclaims a new Christ's call to penance and conversion of life. “If anyone wishes to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me” (Matthew16:24). The entire season of Lent from AshWednesday (February17th) to Holy Thursday (April 1st), is a penitential season; a time for self-denial, prayer and Christian charity. During this season, we are strongly encouraged to participate in daily Mass and receive Holy Communion, receive the Sacrament of Penance, attend Lenten devotions and the Stations of the Cross; read the Scriptures prayerfully, perform acts of self-denial and works of mercy.

El tiempo de la Cuaresma, donde la Iglesia proclama de nuevo el llamado de Cristo a la penitencia y conversion en nuestras vidas. "El que quiera seguirme, que renuncie a sí mismo, cargue con su cruz y me siga" (Mateo 16:24). Q.: What is the purpose of veiling images inside Church during Lent? By ancient custom, the cruci ixes and statues in the Church are veiled during Passiontide, the last two weeks of Lent. As with many of our ancient liturgi-cal customs, this speci ic one has various meanings: • Before His Passion, Jesus hid himself and no longer went openly among the Jews. • At His passion, the divinity of Jesus was hid-den by his humiliation and sufferings for our sake. • The statues and images of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Saints are covered because it is not itting for the servants to be honored when their Master is hidden. The veiling of the statues gives a strik-ing austerity to the Church, reminding us of the solemn and mournful moment of the suffering and death of the Lord as we approach the liturgical celebration of His Passion.

“We adore You oh Christ and we bless You, because by Your Holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.”

Significado de Cubrir las Estatuas con un Velo

Pregunta:¿Cual es el proposito de cubrir las imagenes con un velo durante la Cuaresma? Por medio de costumbre antigua, los cruci ijos y estatuas dentro de la Iglesia estan cubiertos con un velo durante la Pasion de Jesucristo las dos ultimas semanas de la Cuaresma. Ası como hay varias costumbres liturgicas antiguas, esto especı icamente tiene varios signi icados. •Antes de Su Pasion, Jesus se encubrio y ya no estaba abiertamente entre los judıos. •En Su Pasion, la divinidad de Jesus estaba oculta por su humillacion y sufrimientos por nuestro bien.

•Las estatuas e imagenes de la Bendita Virgen Marıa y los Santos estan cubiertos porque no es apropiado que los sirvientes sean honrados cuanto su Senor esta oculto. Al ser cubiertos con un velo las estatuas dan una austeridad llamativa a la Iglesia; recordandonos del momento solemne y melancolico del sufrimiento y muerte del Senor al aproximarse la celebracion de Su Pasion. “Te adoramos o Señor y te bendecimos, porque por tu Santa
