July is the Month of the Precious Blood —the most precious blood of our savior, Jesus Christ, poured out for us on the cross. The price of our salvation.
“You come to me and unite Yourself intimately to me under the form of nourishment. Your Blood now runs in mine, Your Soul, Incarnate God, compenetrates mine, giving courage and support.
What miracles! Who would have ever imagined such!” - St. Maximilian Kolbe

THE MONTH OF THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF JESUS
Festival CountdownI am very proud of all the work that has been accomplished by the team, spearheaded by Vince Woodall. Many of our volun-teers are past chairs and people who have worked the festival for years. I’m so happy they have all risen to the occasion.
I hope everyone throughout the region is able to join in the fun on July 19, 20 and 21. You will find a great selection of food and beverages, great bands, a petting zoo and lots of fun rides and games for the kids, a wonderful flea market, fun at the Big Six and Ducky Downs and so much more.
Hope to see you in two weeks at the festival!

CORPUS CHRISTI: The processions at both St. Cecilia and St. Margaret-St. John went beautifully (photos 1-3). Both Fr. Cy Whitaker and Fr. Jacob really loved being part of the procession and how meaningful they were to everyone. It is really an impressive sight to see all of the faithful following in the Eucharistic procession. 1 FR. PETE HEMLINGER: A very dear classmate of mine recently passed away. We went to seminary and were ordained together. Fr. Pete (photo 4) was one of the most intelligent priests I’d ever met and yet so down to earth. He will be greatly missed. 1 SMSJ GROUNDSKEEPING: A big thank-you to Karen and Joe McKenrick for the wonderful landscaping job (photo 5). SMSJ looks ready for summer with all of the flowers blooming. 1 REST IN PEACE: Audrey Lucille Sharn (photo 6) died on Sunday, June 16, at the age of 88. Her funeral Mass was at St. Cecilia on Saturday, June 22, 2019. May she rest in peace.

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself up for Her.” – Ephesians 5:25
Becoming CatholicCurious about the Church? Come and See Inquiry Meeting is on July 24, at 7 PM, in the St. Cecilia Commons.
SUMMER WITH THE SAINTSSaint Rose of Lima Rose was born in Peru, South America. She was very obedient to her parents. She did all tasks with a happy smile. She always tried to do little things that were pleasing to others. Rose was very pretty. Her mother wanted her to wear beautiful clothes, but Rose would say, “Mother, only beauty of the soul is worthwhile.”
A rich young man wanted to marry Rose. He offered her a large
home and many servants, but she refused. She wanted only to love and serve God.
When her parents had lost their money, Rose went out every day to work, and at night did sewing to help her parents. Rose visited the homes of the poor and brought them food. She offered all her sufferings and good works to God for sinners. Our Lord often appeared to her like a little child to tell her how pleased He was with her kind deeds.
Rose died in 1617 when she was only thirty-one years of age. She is the first saint of the Americas.

The Sporting LifeEvery Sunday, a group of young adults from St Cecilia & a few other parishes get together for Sunday Sports Play. They rotate what sports they play and where they play them. This past Sunday was sand volleyball, and in the winter they use the St Cecilia gym for basketball. They pray before and after every game, and the group has grown tremendously since they started. If you want to join them next time, contact Sarah Rose at 871-5757, ext. 218, or [email protected].
Adoration/Mad TreeJoin other young adults for Adoration with confessions on July 17 at 7 PM at St. Cecilia. Then come down the road to MadTree for a drink after. This happens on the third Wednesday of every month. Put it in your calendar!
Sacred Music WorkshopOn Wednesday, July 24, Music & Liturgy at the Athenaeum will be hosting “Singing the Mass: Sacred Music Workshop for Pastors and Directors of Music” from 9:30 AM-4:30 PM on campus at the Athenaeum of Ohio. The workshop will focus on encouraging priests and congregations to sing the chants of the Roman Missal as well as the Mass proper.
The day will include two lectures, given by Fr. Ryan Ruiz and Dr. Mary Catherine Levri, as well as a panel discussion, led by a number of pastors and directors of music. The discussion will focus on the challenges of implementing excellent sacred music programs at the parish level. Also, a sung Mass will be offered in the late morning, at which all priests in attendance are invited to concelebrate.
While the workshop particularly intends to address the needs of parish pastors and directors of music, all who are interested are welcome to attend. The registration fee for the workshop is $15/person. This fee will cover lunch and all necessary materials. The registration deadline is July 10. Please register at athenaeum.edu/sacredmusicworkshop/.
Workshop sessions will take place in the Bartlett Pastoral Center on campus at the Athenaeum of Ohio, 6616 Beechmont Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45230, and parking will be available next to the Bartlett Center.
For more information, please contact Dr. Mary Catherine Levri at (513) 233-6138 or [email protected].
Are you celebrating your 50th wedding anni-versary in 2019? A Golden Anniversary Mass will be held on Saturday, August 3, at 4:30 PM at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral. Bishop Joseph Binzer will be the celebrant. Family and friends are welcome! No RSVP is necessary.

Online GivingSt. Cecilia Parish wants to provide you the convenience of being able to financially give as good stewards the way you want, whenever you want. We recently invested in a more user-friendly Online Giving Program, which includes a mobile app as well as Text Giving capabilities. You can make secure, automatic contributions from your bank or credit/debit card account to St. Cecilia Parish. Online giving costs you nothing and provides many advantages to you and the church. You don’t have to worry about having cash in your pocket, or remember to bring your envelope, or be able to contribute when you are away visiting family or vacationing. Your gift is made.
No check writing or ATM stops before church, safe, secure, and confidential transactions, use your checking/savings account or credit/debit card, schedule recurring or one-time donations, change a gift or account anytime you like, choose offertory, special funds, pledges and view your giving history at any time.
PHONE APP: You can download the ConnectNow Giving app from the App store on your iPhone and sign in.
TEXT GIVING: You can text 513-434-3577 and enter a donation amount ($5, $10, $25, etc.) The first time you will need to register your account….after that just text 513-434-3577 and a gift amount.
However you choose to give, we thank you! Your gifts are appreci-ated and are used to fuel the “storehouse” of St. Cecilia Parish to help build the Kingdom of God in Oakley and beyond.
