The Mass begins! Alleluia! However, we must do some adap ng. For example:

• The music will be instrumental as it is difficult to sing with a mask on and while singing, we exhale many more droplets of saliva.

• The virus a aches itself to books, paper and missale es. Sani zing them a erward would be an overwhelming task for the volunteers. For now, we will discon nue using the worship aids.

• The Sunday offerings and special collec ons: Your dona ons of generosity can be placed in clearly marked boxes at both the entrance and exits. The offering of the gi s (bread and wine) need to be suspended in this phase.

• The sign of peace is limited to a gesture such as a nod of the head.

• Holy Communion: Follow the usher’s direc ons on how to proceed to the sanctuary. They will have hand sani zer for you or you can use your own one. Keep your mask on, receive the Holy Eucharist in your hand (we are not allowed to place it on your tongue), move to one of the squares marked on the floor, lower your mask and reverently consume the Host and return to your pew. The Precious Blood will not be offered. The Priests, Deacons, and Extraordinary Ministers will wear a required protec ve face shield.

• At the end of Mass, our ushers will guide us to go to the two exits star ng from the back to the front.

Liturgical ministers

• One Lector is needed for each Mass to share the words of welcome, proclaim the readings and psalm response, lead the

invoca ons for the general intercessions, and share the announcements.

• One or perhaps two Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist are requested for each Mass depending if a Deacon is present.

Become a team member:

As you observe how we are commi ed to caring for everyone’s safety during this pandemic please consider volunteering to set up, greet, usher or to help with sani zing pews, door handles and rest rooms. The tasks are not as complicated as they might seem. Gloves, masks, high grade disinfectant spray are provided. Time to complete this task is a sacrifice we can offer to God for

I would like to encourage you to be happy because we are building together a new Catholic people. We are people filled with love for God and his children. We are people who are working together to strengthen our faith and increase our hope in Him who gave his life for us. Now we are giving our me, our treasures, and our talents for our brothers and sisters. Together and with God we can become united in love. Blessings to all. -Father Oswaldo

Comenzaremos con las misas! Aleluya.

-Padre Oswaldo

Bendiciones para todos.

Blessings to all.

Covid-19: A Prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe in Times of Trail By Archbishop Jose Gomez, President of the USCCB

Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of the Angels and Mother of the Americas, We fly to you today as your beloved children. We ask you to intercede for us with your Son, as you did at the wedding in Cana. Pray for us, loving Mother, and gain for our nation and world, and for all our families and loved ones, the protection of your holy angels, that we may be spared the worst of this illness. For those already afflicted, we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance. Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful, wipe away their tears and help them to trust. In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to be patient and kind. Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to our hearts. We come to you with confidence, knowing that you truly are our compassionate Mother, health of the sick and cause of our joy. Shelter us under the mantle of your protection, keep us in the embrace of your arms, help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus. Amen.

ENTHUSIASM AND GRAMMAR There is a good reason that the wri ngs of St. Paul don’t show up as examples in grammar textbooks. Today’s reading is a case in point. It begins with one of those long Pauline run on sentences that leave lectors gasping for breath. So what? Take a closer look at how Paul’s fervor for his subject ma er derails the grammar. There is something admirable about being so caught up in his convic ons that the words cannot come fast enough to express them, much less in an orderly fashion. Scripture scholars usually take this gramma cal ineptness as a sign of a passage’s early importance in the Chris an community, something they were so ardent about that their language never got refined. What leaves us in this condi on? Re-telling the plot line of an ac on movie or the play-by-play of a spor ng event? When was the last me any of us was so excited by our faith in Christ that we were le grasping for words, stumbling over our own errors in speech? It may be bad grammar, but it is an excellent way to inspire others with the message of Christ! Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

FATHERHOOD

When a father gives to his son, both laugh; when a son gives to his father, both cry. —William Shakespeare

WHAT WE LOVE

We cannot help conforming ourselves to what we love. —St.
