Teen Testimony “God works in mysterious ways. Mostly. But sometimes, he can very overt in showing how someone’s life should change. I have realized who much I have been lacking in my relationship with God, and, through adoration and truly praying for the first time in a long time, God fixed it. As one of the speakers told us this week, “Prayer does not help your relationship with God. Prayer is your relationships with God.” –LTLC 2015

STEWARDSHIP: The good steward must not show favoritism. The rich may have many material gifts to share, but St. James reminds us in the second reading that God has chosen the world’s poor to be rich in faith and inheri-tors of God’s kingdom.

TO OUR GUESTS We hope that God will grant you peace and rest while you are under our roof today.

May this church be your “second” home.

May those you love be near you in thought and prayer.

Even though we may not get to know you, We pray that you will be comfortable and happy as if you were in your own church home.

May whatever need brought you our way find a hearing by God.

When you leave, may your journey be safe.

We pray you God’s peace.

STEPHEN MINISTRY

As we consider our lives as Christians, it is good to ask ourselves if we are being stewards of our Church. Consider a planned perpetual gift of financial stewardship to our endowment. Not only are we stewards of our time, talent and treasure, we are also stewards of the assets that gave us the treasure and opportunity to develop our talents. For more information, please contact Frank Oppold—290-1163.

Stephen Ministry is based on the idea that all Christians are ministers; it is a way for St. Cecilia parishioners who have the gifts for CARING...to use those gifts to bring Christ's love to people in need. Stephen Ministers go through 50 hours of training to provide high quality, confidential, Christian care to individuals facing life challenges or difficulties. Stephen Ministers are each assigned a care receiver and meet with that person for about one hour a week, with the relationship lasting as long as the care receiver needs it. Are you being called to be a Stephen Minister? Please Contact Deacon Alan at 515-231-8099.

Giving opportunity for Tuition Assistance. As we begin the Fall schedules we find there is an ongoing need for Tuition Assistance contributions to assist families with tuition for the school, for faith formation and for youth ministry.

With the educational opportunities we have at St. Cecilia, it is a blessing to see so many families wanting to help their children grow in their faith.

Some families, however, experience financial setbacks from time to time and really appreciate the assistance we offer to help them. Simply mark your contribution according to the education program you desire when you send it into the office. Thank you for considering a contribution to the assistance Program.

St. James teaches that those who are poor in the eyes of society are the ones who have been chosen to inherit the Kingdom of God. Indeed, we are saved because of our poverty; we are redeemed out of our need; not because of our material wealth or achievements that the world finds praiseworthy. St. James also suggests that we are stewards of others, especially the poor; and it is how we respond to the poor and needy that will define our relationship with the Lord. How do we respond to the less fortunate right within our own parish?
