Sagittar SGT-LPN 58V are “Open” i.e. “License-free” (License-exempt) ISM Band Radios
This document provides a background on purchasing and shipping information.
Purchasing Procedure & Shipping Information:
1. What is the data throughput requirement? Use this table as a guideline, if needed.
2. Use the bandwidth (7MHz or 14MHz – you can use both) and the above table to determine the data throughput.
3. A “Terminal”, on one side of a link, comprises an Indoor Unit (IDU) and Outdoor Unit (ODU). Determine the
coordinates for placement of the “Terminals” on either side of the radio link. Use a program such as Pathloss to
calculate the antenna sizes (this is the way to design a “link”). Sagittar can help with this exercise. Determine
Latitude, Longitude and Tower/Mast height information for each site before doing the design.
4. Determine if you want “High Power” or “Standard Power” Outdoor Unit Radios.
5. Determine if you want 1 x 8E1 Service Card, 1 x FE Service Card (has 2 x LAN ports), 1 x FE Service Card & 1 x
8E1 Service Card, 2 x FE Service Card.
6. Once the antenna sizes are calculated, the BoQ (Bill of Quantity) will be:
a. A “Link” in a box: 32kg box, 66cm x 58cm x 45cm Air Freight
b. RG213 or LMR400 “IF Cable” – up to 300m per side Purchase Locally (if within the country)
c. 2 x Coaxial Lightning Protectors
d. 2 x Antennas of Required Size
0.3m Parabolic Antennas Air Freight: 2 Antennas in a 7kg box, 37cm x 36cm x 25cm
0.6m Parabolic Antennas Air Freight: 2 Antennas in a 20kg box, 78cm x 72cm x 20cm
0.9m Parabolic Antennas Sea Freight: 0.4 CBM (Cubic Metres), 2 Antennas per box
1.2m Parabolic Antennas Sea Freight: 0.9 CBM, 2 Antennas per box
Now, you have the BoQ. Other installation materials are within the “Link Box”.
As a “rule of thumb”, use 2 x 0.6m for a link design of 99.999% uptime per year with “Standard Power Radios”.
