Introduction
The purpose of this audit is to identify significant issues contributing to your safety. Whencommencinganew job, employerorientationandworkplace safety guidelines shouldprovide thebasic information required for you to commencework safely. This Safety& SecurityAudit canbeusedas a checklist to review safety. Completing theauditwill provide individuals andworkplaceswith the basic information required to promote practical safety quality improvements in theworkplace.Thisaudit isabridge linkingorientation,workplacesafetyguidelines,andWorkHealthandSafetyrequirements.
Theauditidentifiesbroadissuesthatcontributetopersonal&teamsafety,security,wellbeing,andtheprovisionofsafe,effectivehealthservices.Notall itemslistedwillberelevantforall locations.Using the audit tool provides a guide for improving remote health workforce safety. It is not acompletelistofallissuesrelevanttoSafetyandSecurityinalllocations.
HowtousetheSafety&SecurityAudittool
TheAudit lists six differentheadings:HealthCentre; safety systemsandOn-Call; accommodation;transport;communication;andcommunity&culturalsafetyeducation.Whilethereissomeoverlap,thedifferentheadingsprovideagoodbasisforcompletingtheaudit.
It’snotonlytheauditcontentthatcontributestosafetyandsecurity.Completingtheauditgetsstaffoutandaboutinthecommunity,lookingatsafetyissuesandmeetingthepeoplewhowillbeabletoprovide assistance if needed. Completing the audit ensures staff think ahead about safety andsecurity issues.Don’t justhandyour completedauditdocumentover to incoming staff. They’llbesaferifthey’vecompletedtheirown!
BeforecompletingtheAudit…You’llgetmoreoutofcompletingtheauditifyouhaveparticipatedinworkplaceorientationandreaduponyourlocalhealthservicesafetyguidelines.
