The measuring element consists of a pendelum whose static and dynamic movements are picked up capacitively. The measuring element made of high purity silicon is hermetically enclosed in glass and silicon and has a high long-term stability. The symmetric design compen-sates a high degree of temperature variations which are caused by the expansion coefficient of the silicon. Further temperature compensation is done the same way depending on the model.

MICRO-EPSILON GROUP
Micro-Sensor is part of the Micro-Epsilon Group, the supplier of world's largest selection of high-precision displacement sensors, temperature sensors as well as measuring instruments and systems for industrial applications. More than 10,000 users throughout the world rely on measuring technology from Micro-Epsilon. Micro-Epsilon is a medium-sized family-run company. For more than 40 years Micro-Epsilon has continuous-ly offered reliable, high performance, unique solutions particularly when high precision measurement or inspection is required. Our product range covers sensors for the measurement of distance and displacement, sensors for IR temperature measurement and color detection, as well as systems for dimensional measure-ment and defect detection.
Innovative products that provide the very highest levels of precision are created through intensive research and development processes, unique know-how and a broad network of collaborative operations, which are essential for the high
performance measurement systems of the Micro-Epsilon Group. As a member of the ME Group, Micro-Sensor perceives customers as business partners which creates a win-win situation for both parties. Our products often provide customers with a genuine competitive advantage. However, this is only the case if the products are of higher precision and so provide a clear, decisive compe-titive edge. With more precision.
Micro-Sensor complements the wide product range of sensors of the company group in one of the largest global growth markets: acceleration and force sensor technology.
Micro-Sensor GmbH is rooted in one of the numerous research institutes in Jena. The spin-off took place in 1997 aiming to build up core competence in the development and production of optical and microtechno-logical components. In 2000 Micro-Hybrid Electronic GmbH in Hermsdorf acquired a stake in the former M+S Mikrotechnik und Sensorik GmbH. The acquisition of a 50%-share by the Micro-Epsilon Group ensured the develop-ment of important core competencies. It was now feasible to realize a focused and growth-oriented market strategy. Immediately afterwards, microsytem technological competencies enabled to start first product development projects in the field of force sensors. At the same time, the first analog acceleration sensors were launched.
In 2006/2007 BG 2168 series started (two-axis acceleration sensors), the deve-lopment of the CANopen sensor BG 2180 (fully digital acceleration sensor) began in 2010/11, in 2012/13 the USB sensor BG 2190 (power supply via USB) followed. Now inclination sensors of AccIS 10 series round off the product portfolio. A high precision sensor to handle highest metrological tasks will be introduced to the market in 2014.
Since 2012 the company trades under the name Micro-Sensor and focuses exclusively on sensor solutions in the fields of acceleration, position, inclination and force. Thus, it is the competence center of sensor technology for acceleration and force of the globally operating Micro-Epsilon Group. Micro-Sensor was fully integrated into the Micro-Epsilon Group in 2013.

competence and account for 80 % of sales – according to the business strategy of the Micro-epsilon group
OEM – HIGH-PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS FOR INCLINATION / VIBRATION / ACCELERATION Mobile Automation · Rail vehicle construction Aviation · Defence · Wind power and solar
Customer specific solutions account for 80% of Micro-Sensor's total sales. The development of special metrological concepts together with the customer is at the center of our business model. OEM sensor technology by Micro-Sensor is based on standard catalog products. As a customer you can start with reasonably priced standard products which are in stock and evaluate these quickly. We will gladly join a development project with you in case of justified technical and commercial prospects of success. We put all of our expert knowledge of acceleration sensors and application into these customer specific projects. So it is possible to have a tested and verified sensor within a few months. Our engineering team proceeds with the product development in a structured way. Intelligent project management with milestone planning and defined termination criteria ensures a results-oriented project progression on schedule.
Single system components such as the sensor element, the interface to your system or the housing can be individually selected for your OEM solution. You decide which solution offers the biggest advantage in competition. A maximum of transparency of metrological achievable performance and costs provides you with a multi-dimensional basis for decision-making. Our goal is to improve your product or even make it realizable in the first place with our metrological solution.
