St. Maurice Maurice was born in an ancient city near Egypt 250 years after Jesus Christ. He worked his way up through the ranks of the Roman Army, eventually becoming a general. As the leader of the Thebes Legion, Maurice and his army of six thousand Afri-can men were ordered to fight against a rebellion threatening the empire but after learning his ‘enemies’ were Christians, he and his men refused. In return, the emperor executed Maurice and most of his men. He became the Patron Saint of southern Germany and parts of France, Spain, Italy, and Switzerland.

8th Sunday in Ordinary Time:
February 26, 2017
That through our generosity we keep
God first and money second.
“No one can serve two masters; for
either he will hate the one and love the
other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise
the other. You cannot serve God and mammon
(material wealth).” Matthew 6:24
For many people, God and money run “neck and
neck” as their first priority. Making money and
spending money becomes the center of their life and
they actually become a slave to money. The solution
– become more generous. Giving money to Church
and charity frees us from slavery to money and from
making money a “god” before God.
From the Altar Society Bake Sale was a success!

No puedes servir a Di-
os y a las riquezas (riquezas materiales)." Mateo 6:24
